I learned of the 25% off Inspiron/XPS laptop coupons here: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4523

However, I can not get it to work with any of Dell's XPS m1530 notebooks because they all have free shipping (which I guess is not combinable?). Where is the remove link for the free shipping promo?

I selected the basic m1530 (no instant savings/rebates) and customized my laptop totalling to $1,569. I then enter "0$?X8RJ0$G3XLB" into the coupon form but it always gives me this message:

Here is the full detail of the coupon:
Where did I go wrong?

    Thanks for any suggestions!

The fine print says the coupon has already expired on 7/23/2008.

i had the exact same problem when i tried to buy the dell ultrasharp 24" monitor last week.

i would recommend calling dell and trying to order the laptop over the phone. it turned out that i was able to redeem the coupon over the phone, even though it was not being accepted on the dell website

There seems to be a discrepancy between the large print and the small print. The Dell site tells me that it expires on August 1, 2008.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will go to Dell Chat first.

Yeah, I saw that too when I tried the coupon code. No go for me neither.

Yeah, I think the free shipping is possibly the problem, aside from Dell maybe forgetting to update their coupons.

Can't seem to find a way to remove that, though. Oh well. I'm in queue (7) for Dell Chat, but I haven't moved up in the queue for the past 5 minutes.

it doesn't have anything to do with the free shipping as i have configured a system with free shipping and i was still able to apply.

This only works on the m1330 now. I had the same problem, like 1-2 weeks back. I tried talking to them but they couldn't do anything about it.

Use the link with the 3 year warranty. Surprisingly, that gives you a much better deal than the 25% off...that is, depending on what system you want

That's good to hear! I went to Dell Chat and was told that Dell doesn't give out coupons, but that other companies make coupons that work with Dell? Didn't seem to make much sense to me -- I would think that this problem could only be fixed on their end.

I got d/c by my crappy Internet before I could ask any more. Retrying the chat route.

I just used it on the M1330 and it worked, but it did remove the "Instant Discount" they're offering right now so the deal wasn't a whole lot better after that. It could be they're blocking it on the M1530 right now for some reason, or there's something wrong with the systems there...it's Dell, they're big, and sometimes the left hand can't coordinate with the right.

Ah, well Dell told me that they couldn't do anything about it -- LOL. Thanks for clarifying.

if ur using the 25% discount, it takes off the instant discounts

do what other people do... start from the most basic configuration... and add stuff, then add the coupon... theres no instant discount for the most basic config..... so u get like $1400-25%=$1000 for a nice config(maybe T8300 or higher, 2-3GB ram, 250GB, nVidia 8400.....)

though dell epp is the best.... $1200 for a loaded config with warranty... :)
