    Hi,

    I tried two games:

NFS Undercover and Monsters vs aliens.

NFS undercover was able to run in lowest settings but graphics were like hell!

And monsters vs aliens didnt run at all...

I think, it might be GPU problem? May be my gpu is defective?

    I have 512 MB ATI 3670.

    Please advice.

P.s I tried Vista and win 7 with latest drivers...I even tried uninstalling my antivirus...

Were you plugged in to a power outlet or on battery power?

Make sure your Windows Power Profile is set to High Performance. You can find this in the Power Options control panel.

    It was plugged it.

Not sure about Windows Power profile settings, I will set it to high performance and will let you know the results.

    Thanks

Also check any tools/settings the ATI card uses - I'm sure there is some kind of interface for ATI specific features.

tbh a SXPS 16 with a 3670 (which I had) should run NFS Undercover at 720p with everything set on high. My current laptop runs that game at 1920x1080 with everything high and it's fine. Just get a cooling pad.

If you've already tried driver re-installation I just suggest using your warranty.

Oh..fu** shut up... Dell In India is proving non working and over priced laptops...They have even received a notice from consumer court here... Read the thread that I have posted here...

Each and every problem that I have posted is totally genuine!

I can even post my Service tag number, but again, I dont want to do that!

    Thanks!

I cant even run it at medium. If I try to run it it low, then graphic quaility is just like hell.

    Ok

I couldn't run Team Fortress 2 on decent settings out of the box.

But, I wasn't going to leave it like that, my first step was to format, install Windows 7 RC, new ATI drivers and it doubled the FPS in TF2 alone.

    I tried the following:

    1. Reinstalled Vista and I tried to run it without antivirus
    2. Installed Win 7 RC,
    3. Installed win 7 RTM

At every time, I did fresh installation, meaning I formatted hard disk and then installed windows, and at every time, I installed every driver including ATI 3670 driver.

In last, I was only able to play it at medium, but game wasnt smooth at all, and graphics were like hell.

I am having problems at almost with every part. Today, in news paper, there was an article stating that dell is using faulty parts and over charging.

That's strange because I can play games with no problems on mine (ATI 3670 as well). I have already played Fifa09 and Vegas2 no problems and I use Notepal cooler if you mind!.
I know its not a gaming laptop but its not too bad for a casual gamer It shouldnt be that bad, you must contact Dell.

    Thanks

I contacted them today, around 1 hour back, they said that they will be replacing the motherboard this week (they are replacing MB because when ever I touch laptop, I get a shock most of the time, I am even using 3 PIn adapater).

They said that video card is pre-built in with MB, and replacing MB will fix this issue.

Can anyone from you tell me is video card is really pre-built in with MB and replacing MB will replace video card also?

    Well Thats A Start!!

Where You From Mate or Where You Using Your Laptop ( As In The City)

The Shock You Must be Getting is If u Touch The Silver Part of the Laptop And I Think Its Extra Static (Correct?)

I'm From Delhi and When I Use My Laptop There , I dont Get The Shock!!

But I am Studying In Pune and When Im Here , I Get That Shock, I Think Its Due To No Earthing oR Something or Maybe The Weather!!!

I am from Delhi too :)

I have tested the laptop in at my friends house also, and even there I was getting that electric shock.

    Thanks

Edit: Even if it due to earthing, then getting a shock isnt pleasing at all. This problem was also discovered in 05 and 06 in the USA and the reason provided by dell was that adapter was 2 pin. Now, I am using a 3 pin adapter and I know in my home everything is properly earthed.

Im Not Sure About The Prebuilt Part, But It is Not User Replaceable, as in Its not an MXM Card ( Which are user Replaceable), But Ya it could be attached to the MB.

And If You are Feeling that the laptop isnt Upto Your Standards then Just Call Up Dell Service and Tell them You Have got Tons Of things Replaced Again and Again and Would Like a NEw Laptop ( I Hope You Have Complete Cover)

Edit - About The Shock issue, I was Taking a Guess, ill Be Going Back Home in a week and Will check the Issue , But I Doubt its Gonna Be There!!!

    Ok, thanks :)

I talked around 2 hrs today to dell and the were very rude! They told me that they cant replace the laptop. If they keep replacing laptop, then how will dell make profits and replacing a laptop isnt possible.

Overall, I think, Dell care service sucks in India. I think, If this has happened to someone in USA, then he should have got his laptop replaced.
