I have read two things about the m1330 led backlighted model.

    1. the screen will scratch if you keep it closed, carrying it around (against the keys I guess?)

    2. The lid will flex and bend in to the mousepad.

Is this true? How do I prevent this? Are there any sleeve/cases that will fit the xps (not the one it comes with)? The macbook is too wide so the cases won't fit.

Yes, when I first got my m1330, I would notice white marks on the LED screen. These were caused by the screen getting pressed against the keyboard while being carried around in the provided sleeve which is inside my bag. I fixed that issue by purchasing a lappymat. It is a microfiber cloth that sits on my keyboard whenever I close the screen for transportation. For the past 6 months, I have had no marks on my screen, and I also use the microfiber cloth to get rid of dust on the screen as well as fingerprints on the lid.

    No.

I haven't read one valid negative comment about the m1330, no heat issues, no loud fan, no scratching or flex.

The only problems I had aren't mentioned anywhere.

    1) The keyboard keys get "stuck", but you can easily pull them off and put them back on. And that only happened in the first month.

    2) The silver paint on the wrist rest is getting worn off.

Both are not true, yet true at the same time. It can happen on all notebooks due to uneven keyboards. Perhaps investing in a ShaggyMac is a good idea.

How often/after how much uses do you wash it?

I typically never "wash" it using liquid. I use the lappymat microfiber cloth and rub in circles for a couple minutes on the screen itself, and then on the lid on top. I do this probably once every 2 to 3 weeks and my m1330 looks as new as it was the day I received it 9 months ago.

Do you even own a 1330? This thing does have heat issues. That is universally agreed upon.. . Or are you using a X3100?

And your second comment made me laugh.. there's no "paint".. it's an aluminium palmrest... There's no paint to be worn.. It can get scratched, though. :))

To the OP.. I have never had the keyboard touching the screen.. And I haven't been using it too carefully of late.. I don't understand the second thing.... Did you mean that the lid is disfigured?? If so, then it's false..

Do you even own a 1330? It doesn't have "heat issues". I've seen complaints about heat and fan-noise and dvd-sticking, never had a problem with mine.

I said mine is worn, whether its metallic paint or a foil-sized layer of aluminum it is so thin as to make the distinction irrelevant.

It's neither metallic paint, nor aluminium plated.. it is a metal palmrest..

And tell those who have had their mobos replaced due to th graphics card going bad, that it doesn't have heat issues..
Any chip that reaches over 90º C under normal operation has heat issues.

And in case you haven't noticed, there's a review linked to in my sig...

I'd recommend getting a padded and over sized carrying case (14.1" screen is enough)

Ohhh, no. I meant how often do you wash the actual lappymat cloth. Doesn't it collect the dust particles, making the computer vulnerable to more scratches after a while?

Oh yes, I wash that probably one every month or 6 weeks. It doesn't pick up dust and dirt as much as you would think. I just shake a lot of it off after using it.

I have a 1330 and have no issues with the screen carrying it around.
It has the new Penryn chip, runs cool, and my only
problem is it vibrates and it drives me nuts. But the hubby loves it.

I noticed that the screen was developing little marks where it contacts the armrest ridge just below the keyboard. They wiped off when I cleaned the screen, but I found a better solution:

I just put an ordinary sheet of 8.5x11 copy paper between the screen and keyboard whenever I am going to carry it around in my messenger bag. No marks, and no extra expenditure.

Paper might scratch your screen... Better replace it with a microfiber cloth or a lappymat..

The metal itself is EXTREMELY thin, I can see the dark spots underneath the silver where it is worn.

Could you upload a pic? It really is bad, if it could get that worn..
