Hi, Is there a way to change the temp threshold for the fan in a M1330? My wife and I have both a M1330 with bios version A15 and Nvidia 8400 version 176.44, but the fan threshold in my wifes laptop is about 70 degree and in mine about 60 degree?!? That means that my laptop makes a lot of noise all the time while my wifes is quiet - even if we run the same software.
    Any idea?
    Thanks
    Ole

Try searching for program called i8kfangui. Not sure how to use it myself, but I know it can control your fan speeds.

yes, I've stumbled over that program too but I think it's a program that has to run when using the laptop instead of changing the settings in bios or in reg database or wherever the settings are located - or am I wrong?

Yea I think you're right. Not sure what else you can do besides maybe try an older BIOS version-maybe A13 or A14? Wouldn't go too far back, but it's worth a shot.

Also, your NVIDIA driver is really old, you can update it by going to Welcome to NVIDIA - World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies. However, I wouldn't update it past the 250 series of drivers (you'll have to look in the "Archived/Beta Drivers" section), that might help a little also.

I actually had a newer version installed but I thought it was that one that causes the difference of the two laptops - so I did the downgrade to see if that was the cause.
There must be a setting somewhere to define the temp threshold - would really like to find it.
