    Hey guys, gals,

When i bought my laptop, i only took the intel centrino 1000 for my wireless adapter.

So, i bought the intel centrino 6230, since i wanted it to pair with some bluetooth devices, and since i have a dual band router that support 5ghz at some really good range, well i said " it", and decided to order it online.

I saw a post of scott somewhere... But couldn't find it again with the search engine.. I'm sure i'm doing something wrong but oh well.

Below are my xps l702x specs :

    Intel i7 2630qm
    Nvidia 555 GT 3GB
    Backlite keyboard
    8GB of 1333mhz Gskill RAM
    1 SSD Corsair F series, 1 HDD 500GB
    Full HD screen, non 3D
Wireless pci adapter intel centrino 1000

If you need anything else, please ask away.

Also, i have concerns for the backlite keyboard... I know that i have to flip over the keyboard in order to changer the wireless, but will that screw the light under the keyboard ?

Also, does the bluetooth adapter on the card require a wire ?

Thanks for any help in advance.

If you're looking for the service manual, here it is...

    Documentation

But from the content of your post I can't quite tell what your question is?

The l702x should have all of the wireless antennas included, even if you did not buy the corresponding card(s).

You have to open up the computer down to the point of removing the keyboard. Then the wireless card is in the upper-right corner. Pop the old one out, pop the new one in. Should be that easy, there are only 2 antennae for the 6230, watch it as you pull them off/put them on, the brass connector "cup" can get bent but is also easily fixed.

How many cables does the L702X actually have though? Just the two or does it have three and only utilize two because of the 6230/1000 card?

Just finished the job on my l720x.

Can't say it was easy, but can't say it was hard either. You just need to be patient...

@ leerage : When i opened my l702x, i only had a black and a white wire, so i guess there's only 2. You could add a third, but you have to mess up with the screen for that.

Just took apart my L702X and i've got 3 wires. Black, White, and gray. Must be the 3D model comes with the 3 wires.

http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-xps-studio-xps/562138-dell-xps-17-l702x-thread-79.html#post7700270 <- scott's post about changing the wireless card

as has been said already the non-3D comes with two wires, the 3D comes with all three, you only need two for the 6230, the bluetooth is built into the card itself and no you won't hurt the 'backlight' by flipping it over.

the hardest part is 'popping' up the palmrest, just be gentle but firm and you will get it
