I am trying to decide between XPS 1330 and Studio XPS 1340. So far, the differences are - * Better video card in 1340 (256 vs 128), * Bigger hard drive in 1330 (500 Gb w/free fall sensor vs 320 Gb), * WLED display in 1330 vs CCFL backlit display in 1340, * Backlit keyboard in 1340. The price for both are pretty same. I do not know how is the built for both models. This is my first laptop. I hope to get some experienced advise. Thanks in advance.

Studio XPS 1340 definitely. It's a newer platform, better components, and most importantly, NOT a faulty graphics card. The 8400M GS has a slew of problems, and they're especially seen in the M1330. This is no contest.

get the Studio XPS 1340... the 1330 is old stuff and might have the heating issues (of course the XPS 1340 might have other issues in the future, but its better to buy newer hardware)

    Hey....
First off, the 1330 is going to have a major price difference vs. the 1340. It is an older lappy, and the 1340 brand new. So, the 1330 will be much cheaper.
(If using coupon codes..I think there is a 25% off one out there).

Yes the displays are different, as with the HD's. I played with the 1330 before I went with the 1530. I almost got it. It was a nice lappy. But, I fell for the 1430 :D I like that the 1330 was portable and had the LED, my 1530 didnt.

The 1340 is newer with better specs, I would probs go with that :D

There is another thread regarding this same question you are asking, let me grab it. :D

    Cin ;) :)

I went with the 1330 about a month ago since I'm not into early adopting. However, if that's not a concern for you get the 1340 since it is overall a better machine (I'll probably pick one up in a year or so myself).
