I just bought some canned air to clean out my laptop, but the thing is, Im afraid to do it. Do I need to take anything apart? Also how often should this be done? Im sorry if this is a somewhat noobish question, but Im just a little nervous about doing this although Im sure it needs to be done.

Theres nothing inside your laptop you can damage with compressed air. You can clean a few parts of it without taking it apart. If you really want to give the thing a through and complete cleaning you'll need to take it apart to a degree. Dell has complete manuals and guides for all of their systems including yours. You can go to their support area and it will walk you step by step how to do anything to it.

Don't worry it is just air. I usally just open the vent where the fan is and the air vents and use the compress air to clean out the dust
