    Hi

I purchased the above laptop a few weeks ago and I kept hearing a strange clicking sound ( bit like someone playing with a pen). I contacted Dell Tech Dept and to their credit, they went through a series of tests which unfortunately couldnt establish what the problem was.

Long story short- Dell arranged for a new Laptop to be sent out to me and it arrived yesterday..... this one has the same problem. The clicking is really intermittent and occurs EVEN when Im not actually touching the keyboard!!

I appreciate its not the worst issue compared to what other owners have to endure but its really irritating

I'm not a technical person, so I could really appreciate some help in trying to identify what the problem could be. I did re-contact Dell today and the Tech Advisor once again went through a series of short tests which showed no errors. He is going to speak to me tomorrow in order to delve a little deeper into this issue.

My laptop has the following configuration

    Base 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2540M processor 2.60 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.30 GHz

I purchased the same laptop from Egypt and I have the same exact problem.
The only difference between my laptop and yours is the processor and the graphics card.
Mine is core i7 2.0 Ghz and the graphics card is Nvidia geforce GT 540m

But I hear the same sounds every now and then!

Sounds like maybe a HDD/ODD problem... or maybe coming from the speakers? Can you tell what general area the noise is coming from?

I have same laptop, I live in Egypt but I bought it from USA it has, 750HDD, 8gb ram, i5, 9 cell, full HD display, N6230 wirless.. so I bought this SSHD hard drive & still I can hear this ticking sound so I decided to get another hard from another laptop that doesn't have any problems and still same problem so I took the cover and I heard the sound is coming behind the hard drive something is weird, I really can't tell what is it from but I can confirm it's not the Hard drive
