Ok, I am looking mostly at Dell to buy my laptop because I get a deal there through my school. Even if I go with an inspirion I still have to choose a color. I am huge fan of the red and would love to choose that over any other color. The thing I was thinking about was is it really all that professional. I will be starting my freshmen year at college this Fall and will be majoring in Computer Science. This major includes a years worth of co-op and I will also hopefully be getting a regular job in pc tech repair and might have to bring my laptop to peoples homes, and with the co-op, to work and meetings, etc. Do you guys think that the red is professional or not. Should I go with the Black or white in either laptop, thanks.

When you go to people's homes to repair a computer, the last thing they're going to care about is the color of your laptop.

If you walked in to a customer's house with some tricked out Alienware notebook, perhaps you'd raise some eyebrows. I don't think a red Inspiron would make you appear less professional... Do you think black would make you more professional?

I think in general black is considered a more widely accepted color, and therefore more professional. But really, most people don't care what color your laptop is. If you like red, go for it.

Since when can professionals not have taste? Stop caring what people think of you. In the end you're the one who has to live with the laptop. Buy what you like, screw everyone else. If you have a co-op placement and the company doesn't like your laptop, tell them to buy you a new one :p.

You shouldn't have to you your personal computer for work, anyway. They should be providing you the tools you need.

    Buy what -you- want.

For professionalism the red might give the wrong impression to others. Black on the other hand will not. Though the red will surely turn some heads.

    It's up to you really.

Seriously, just go with what you want. If you want the red, and it appeals to you personally more than the black, get it.
