A few years ago I bought an XPS 1530 with Complete Care, and the laptop lasted about 15-months before the motherboard issues rendered it useless. Dell eventually sent me an XPS 1645 as a replacement system, but its cheap build quality began to show as it deteriorated over time. Issues ranged from RGBLED light bleeding, throttle issues, speaker problems that were never resolved after several dispatches, poorly-secured trim that warped or peeled apart, and just recently, hard drive failure.

To anyone with experience and knowledge of the Dell's Complete Care Warranty service: what should I expect Dell to do at this point? I don't like the idea of exploiting warranty services, especially since they already gave me replacement system with specs much higher than the original order. Nonetheless, should I expect Dell to repair the multitude of problems in the SXPS 1645, or another replacement upgrade (XPS 15, XPS 15z, or Ivy Bridge)?

Any insight to this topic would be appreciated. I'll keep this thread updated for the benefit of anyone else in a similar situation.

If it's covered by normal warranty, then Dell will take care of it. Seems like you have had multiple issues with XPS systems, maybe if you get a new replacement to just sell it..

    You're not exploiting Dell.

Dell *are exploiting you* with shoddy build quality and a lack of regard for the value of your time, expectation or why you need a computer.

If you purchase a machine, it should work for the intended issue. If there are issues, you have paid Dell to resolve them for you in advance. If they can't get it together enough to resolve issues with one machine, they should replace it.

Dell *should* sell machines that are much more reliable and better built, and should play their part. Sadly, often they don't.
