Hey everyone, so here is the story. I had an HP DV6500t with a 320GB Western Digital Scorpio Black (7200 rpm) with Windows 7 and all my data loaded on it. After 3 years the HP's motherboard and 8400gs GPU completely fried, so I decided to part out the rest of the laptop and I just bought a Studio XPS 1640. It is beautiful, it came with the 1gb 4670, the 16inch RGBLED display etc, but only has a 250gb hard drive.

What I would like to do is put my 320gb from my HP in the XPS. Is there a way to completely wipe all my HP's drivers out of Windows 7 in safe mode, or do I have to uninstall them one by one and put on the Dell's drivers?

Best to backup the important files from the 320 and then do a clean install of the OS once the drive is in the XPS and update drivers once the OS is installed. Using the HP install of Windows can be done but in my experience can cause issues (transfer of a drive from one system to another).

If you're not too hung up over 70GB, I'd just buy an enclosure to put the old HP HDD in it, saves you from refitting a HDD and reinstalling Windows, and you gain an external HDD out of it.

Thanks guys, it would have been too much of a hassle, so I just backed up all my files from the 320gig and put that in and am using the 250 as an external.
