My computer isn't getting electricity from being plugged in. Is it the DC Jack that I need to replace?

Is the power brick's light lit up? Just to rule it out, have you verified the outlet is working? Boot into your BIOS and see if the BIOS throws an error message for the AC power brick.

If you are under warranty, call Dell.

Yup, the power brick is lit up. I'm only getting power if I hold the head of the plug into the power jack...

It still could be the power brick - but most likely the motherboard power jack. Best to call Dell if under warranty.

There could be a problem with the adapter..the connection could be loose...or the inside of the connector..could need some soldering.

Call Dell, and they will most likely send a Technician to replace the Motherboard for you, and also replace your AC with a new one.

This is what they did for me, 2 times..in fact..vs. messing with any soldering.

The thing is, the computer is long since out of warranty. My dad stupidly glued the head of the power plug into the socket, so I am going to have to replace the power jack anyways. I just need to know if that's all I need to replace and if it's called a "DC Jack."
