When I search for drivers using my XPS 15 7590's service tag, there are 2 drivers from the Free Fall Data Protection Driver:
1) Dell Free Fall Data Protection 1.0.11.0 ,A04 (30,Jan,2020)
2) STMicroelectronics Free Fall Data Protection Driver 4.10.93 ,A07 (07,Jan,2020)
In device manager, under System devices, there is: STMicroelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer
I am confused about the first driver in that case, the Dell Free Fall Data Protection, Is that like the application part of the Free Fall Data sensor or what?

I think the accelerometer is principally used to protect a HDD.
Alternatively, it could be used for evesdropping purposes much like a microphone or speaker; I would expect the firmware to be in IME so didn't worry about installing the drivers.
edit - Also I don't use a HDD so don't need the accelerometer protection in any case IMO YMMV. For sure an interesting option if you have a HDD.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

You like drivers/apps you have no need for in your computers?
Edit.
Btw. Have seen you post below... When will you swap nick name to Super Spartan on NBR?
Confused about the Free Fall Data Protection Driver for XPS 15 7590Last edited: Feb 22, 2020Ashtrix and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
Unrelated, but without Nvidia dGPU drivers installed, the dGPU will take quite a bit of power, even when disabled in Device Manager. Will not having the free-fall driver have any similar (or different) side effects?
I've kept it on the device, for now, since I'm still bug chasing with my XPS 7590.
