What can I say? A week ago I vented my frustration with Dell, expaining to all who read this forum that I am on my 5th motherboard, 2nd hard drive, 2nd keypad, and 2nd memory pack on my XPS M1330. Thanks to advice on this forum I was able to "escalate" my customer service to the next level and someone named Satish called me (from India? - He sounded Indian). I asked for a credit so that I could simply buy a business class machine and get away from the XPS laptop heater and toaster once and for all. I was assured that they would consider a refund or credit but first wanted to find out what a replacement would be. They never told me. Instead I got an automated call saying my replacement was arriving today. After spending an hour on the phone (not with Satish - he doesn't have a number) I found out it was a Studio XPS 1340. Checking the performance of that machine, I found out it has the same overheating issues (even more so, I understand) than the XPS M1330! So much for customer support and unresolved issues! The Studio XPS arrived today and I refused the shipment. The ball is in Dell's court. Originally, I offered to pay extra just to get out of the Home computer department and the XPS line. One hand at Dell doesn't know what the other is doing. What a waste of time my whole experience with them as been. My only option, it appears, is small claims court. In light of the fact that my XPS has had a problem every 90 days since I bought it two years ago, I believe that asking for a credit equal to the purchase price was fair. Too bad for Dell. Now I'm going to pursue reimbursement for time lost as well as punitive damages. Any advice before I go downtown and file in court? Does anyone have a backline number to someone at Dell HQ with authority?

Did they offer you a studio xps 16?
-
Yes, actually. Now the Dell has pulled all of the SXPS1340 systems, you should be able to get a Studio XPS 16, which due to it's larger size, is much better at cooling than it's 13" sisters.
...don't get me wrong, the cooling still SUCKS, but at least most of the throttling has been fixed. Your only option if you want something without the XPS heating issues is to try and push for an Alienware M11x. -
the xps 13 is back on singapore page...
