I saw an article once about a guy that converted his mac book pro to multitouch. Has anyone attempted this with a studio xps 16?

You're going to have to be a bit more specific..The macbook pro already has a mutlitouch trackpad..Are you referring to the screen?

Yes, I'm referring to adding a touch pad over the lcd to convert to a touch screen, like Dell's multitouch studio 17.

So does anybody know of any aftermarket touchscreens that would fit the sxps 16?

For a start, you'd have to cut out a hole in the edge to edge plastic.

Our just apply it on top of the edge to edge glass.

It's plastic. I wish it were glass.

Then you'd have a whole bunch of problems, for a start the lid wouldn't close properly, you'd have to somehow attatch it, it'd look horrible and also it wouldn't be hugely accurate given that the plastic sits about 5mm away from the screen.

Yeah, you're right, best to remove the plastic. It's kind of flimsy and gives when you push on it. It's a pretty crappy "feature" anyways. I don't see any benefit to it. All I see is glare and reflections... One more case where style trumps function detrimentally.
