Hey there I've been looking at general reviews about the Cooler Master NotePal Infinite and people seem to be pleased with it...

I was woundering seen as though the fan is in the middle would it really effectivly cool the system (Reach to the M1530's fan?)

    Thanks

After looking at the design pics for the cooler, I'd say poorly at best.

It seems that this particular cooler sets out to chill the entire surface area by spreading out the air flow.

However with the 1530, unless air is specifically pushed through the fan opening, you will see little difference in temps.

You'll merely be cooling down the exterior plastic case as opposed to the internal components.

There are two things I've found to be important in coolers. It needs to be aluminum and it needs a direct air flow going into the fan vents on the laptop.

Before I bought a cheap cooler off eBay for $10 which was just 3 fans but it was made of plastic. It did nothing to my temps even when putting the fan directly underneath the vent.

I then went to buy the Zalman ZM-NC1000 and it makes about a 10 degree C difference to my temps. One of the reasons is that it's made of aluminum so with the fans help is kept cold and vise versa. The other reason is that I lower my M1530 so that the air holes are directly underneath the vent. If you don't do this it won't do a thing to the temps.

With that infinity one, you will probably see a change in temps but probably not so much since there's one fan and it's in the centre unless you move the laptop across. Also, I don't think the aluminum is as thick in that one as the Zalman. Aluminum plays a big role in keeping the air cold.

yomamasfavourite is right in that you'll need an air flow directly into the fan vent. A fan just blowing onto the chassis won't do anything

Thanks for the replies! I've looked at the Zalman coolers and I am concerned that the position of the air intakes on the bottom of the device make it less than ideal for use on surfaces other than a desk (such as on my lap on a couch). Is this a fair assessment? I have the same concern about the NZXT Cryo coolers. The other product I've been looking at is the Belkin laptop cooling lounge, but I wonder if it has the same problems as the Cooler Master. Is there any other product you would recommend? I've also looked at the LapLogic W800 Aerogel Extreme, but I wonder about how useful a passive device might be over extended periods of time, and it is pretty expensive...

I am using Zalman nc1000 and it keeps my SXPS 13 cool. It is like almost 20c difference. Since you have the M1530, you can look at their new Zalman zm-nc1500 in Newegg site. It is cheaper than the NC1000 and it is bigger. It think it will fit your laptop perfectly. It's only $39.99. here is the link for you: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834994079
