I am awaiting my 1530 that has not shipped yet and am getting impatient with Dell. I started browsing Costco's site and came across this laptop that has identical specs except more memory 4gb and more GPU memory on the 8600 card (512). The only thing I would miss would be the HDMI port. Also this laptop comes with Vista 64, is this preferred over 32? Please comment whether I should keep the XPS 1530 or pull the trigger on this laptop. Delivery time is 7 - 10 days from the time of order.

I wouldn't buy an IBuyPower, they buy generic laptop cases that are very humdrum and boring. Also there support is not very good, and if you have a problem you better know how to fix it yourself. I'd stay away from them all together.

As for Vista 64, I run it on my desktop, and it's great but there are a few issues with it and certain applications. Overall it's better then XP x64 as far as driver and software support. But most people are probably better off sticking with 32 Bit XP/Vista to avoid any issues. But if you know what your doing and your willing to mess around, Vista x64 is the enthusiast's OS of choice.

the 8600m gt 512 version is ddr2, while the xps 256 is ddr3. so while the 512 is bigger, the 256 is faster. you will get more from the xps 256 card
