Just found this looking on ebay cuz my hand hurts from typing all day. Funny thing is, I didn't even include M1330 in the search.

This thing looks pretty thin and I'm wondering if it would even really help. It says "natural chamois leather feeling" but I don't think it would really reduce the contact pressure on my wrist. What do you guys think?

Also, would this leave an adhesive residue when it comes time to remove it? I'm sending the seller a message to try and clarify this.

For me, covering the brushed aluminum surface defeats the purpose of the XPS build.

When typing, you really shouldn't be resting your hands on the palmrest, despite what it's called.

I have never heard this term! hmmm.

I would rather use the palm rest I already have on my 1530 ;)

But if you want a custom one, more power to you! :D

If and when you get it, you should post pics..it would be cool to see!

I've typed this way my entire life plus I literally use my computer as a laptop so a little pressure on the palm rest stabilizes the it in my legs. Besides, as nice as the magnesium trim looks, it's is more for durability and weight reduction than design... but I see your point.

Which palm rest are you using or are you talking about the way it came?

I don't even know if this one will work. I just want some extra cushion to reduce the discomfort in my wrist

either way putting pressure on your wrist, whether it be a soft pad, or the hard laptop surface will be roughly about the same. it may allow you to last a bit longer, but you are still putting pressure at the points of your wrist which can lead to carpal tunnel. for anything to be put in the palmrest area and be soft, it must be fairly thick which can prevent the laptop from closing properly. I would try to modify those rubber "no stick" pads to the palm rest area so it can be removed and stores when the laptop must be closed.

That is actually what I was looking for when I found this one. I want a small gel filled pad but can't find one small enough to put on the corner of my computer. I only need one cuz my right hand seems to be fine for some reason.

These would be perfect if they were still available. Gotta keep looking I guess. I never thought about the fact they keep your hand insulated from the heat... BONUS! They are even provocative ;)

Now that's an upgrade. Breast implants on a laptop.

I know what you're talking about in regards to pain. In the past I had considered this:

    http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Comfort-Notebook-Wrist-82051A/dp/B0002LEMYC

It all depends on how much pain you're in. Are you willing to look like a maximum dreg? (sounds like the guy is some villian from an old nintendo game)

If you're in a lot of pain and using it at home I'd definitely recommend using an external keyboard if possible.

I saw that Kensington before... Besides being really clunky, it still wouldn't work for typing on my lap. If I liked to work at a desk, I wouldn't have any of these problems. I could, as you said, use an external keyboard or simply type directly on my notebook while resting my forearms on the desk.

Shinza has this other gel pad but it's 4.3 inches so it's a little bigger than the area I have to work with (about 4.2 inches from the edge of the notebook to the inside edge of the trackpad). I guess it could overhang, but the other ones looked more functional.

Oh, I am just using it the way it came! ;) :) It really doesn't bother me at all!

The only time I've ever really needed a nice wrist rest was when I was using my desktop...Then, I used a fabulous *gel wrist rest* ;)
