Hello. I was wondering if someone could provide some guidance with regard to which docks work with the XPS1710. When I look at the Dell retail site, they list the following:

D/ Dock Expansion Station for Dell XPS M1710 Laptop

Will all D/Docks work with the XPS1710? In pictures, they all look the same and have the same base model # (PD01X). I have an older PD01X unit in front of me now. When plugged in, the start button is amber (meaning it is connected to an electrical outlet with no computer docked). However, when I push the laptop into it, the amber power button goes out and does not turn green (basically it isn't knowing that the laptop is docked). I imagine it can be one of three things:

    1. It is the correct dock but the dock is broken
    2. It is the correct dock but the laptop is broken
    3. It is the wrong dock

Should all PD01X models work? If not, what am I looking for and how would I know if I am looking at a D/Dock that will work?

    Thanks!

Are you using the power supply from the 1710? I know that there is a dock that is said to be exclusively for the Precision M6400, but the only difference is a bigger power supply.

The D/Dock requires a 3-prong input and I am using the same 3-prong input that is used between the electrical outlet and the 1710's AC adaptor box. Hope that makes sense.
