Hows it goin everybody. I have a dell xps l702x with a 2720 processor. It came with 6 gig of ddr3 1333 ram. I bought an 8 gig kit (2-4) gig sticks of adata ddr3 1600 ram, installed it and it ran at 1333 (cant adjust it in bios). I then returned it and bought an 8 gig kit (2-4 gig) sticks of ddr3 1600 corsair vengeance ram, beacuase it advertises that it will run at 1600 speed with no bios adjustments necessasary "just plug it in and go". Well i installed it today and was dissapointed to find that the speed still read 1333 in the bios.
Is there anyway to get to the memory settings in the bios? what can i do to get this ram to run at 1600 speed.

Unfortunently I don't think there is anything we can do at this point. I purchased 8GB of the Kingston HyperX PnP 1600 and it only runs at 1333Mghz as well.

did you take your old ram out or install the new ram along with the old ram? All ram will work at the same speed and at the max speed of the slowest ram.

Today I've installed two Vengeance 1600MHz modules and they are working at 1333MHz too... The bios doesnt allow to modify any speed parameter, since my i7 officially supports PC12000 memory what's going wrong?

    Thank you guys

The current xps line machines are locked to 1333mhz and there is nothing the user can do. Its unlikely dell will change this either.

That is awkward Dell locked it to 1333Mhz on the L702x and not the L502x. I wonder if someone could mod the bios to unlock it?

Dam i didnt know the l502x can run over 1333mhz. Sorry looks like it is just the l702x currently locked at 1333mhz. But seriously dell, why cant we have a faster speed?
