I have a DELL XPS 1530 Laptop, a few days back my 90W AC adapter stopped working and beeped continuously and the green light also didnt turn on. I gave the adaptor to a local electronic shop to get it repaired . After getting it repaired I plugged it to the laptop and it charged normally upto 48% and after that the battery did not charge. Then on reboot a message is being display that " The Adapter wattage is not recognised please connect a 65W DELL adaptor". Could anyone please help me out?

How long have you had your 1530? My AC adapter just did this on Sunday, and my 1530 is a bit over 1.5 years old. I contacted Dell and they are sending me a new one at no cost. (Along with sendng a OnSite Technician to replace my Motherboard/GPU/Heatsink/Fan, etc).

Call XPS Support, and see if they will send you a new Adapter. ;)

My warranty will expire in another 2 years.

Oh, yours is expired. Did your warranty just expire? Sometimes, if your warranty has just recently expired...you can get them to still cover the battery/AC...if you get a Rep willing to go the *extra mile* for you.

I have a feeling that your AC is very damaged and you are going to need to replace with new. :( Have you priced any new ones at Dell.com or a ebay seller?

thanks for replying :) . yeah my warranty has expired.I have not yet thought of buying a new one and its also overly priced. Interestingly I downgraded my BIOS to A09 from A12 after seeing it in some post and the battery started charging again. Now my worry is this is going to affect my mobo in anyway?

Its hard to say, i would recommend you get a new AC adapter as soon as possible, if it already failed one time, it will most probably fail again...

    Best of luck!
