    Do I need to upgrade to windows 10 pro to be able to use the finger print reader to log in ?

    Somewhat - but it still requires you to disassemble the device, buy the proper thermal pads and paste and be careful.

    EDIT: Mostly depends on the things you want to do with it. Any type of extremely heavy load scenario will likely not be great.
