How long between the time your replacement was "initiated" and the "shipped" date, if you don't mind me asking, still waiting on mine.

I got a replacement for the fan issue and it had the same issue so I just sent it right back.

Get pretty dramatic idle temp\load diff with my coolermaster U3 notebook cooler.
[Just picked it up today for 30 CAD]

Idle has gone from high 40-low 50, to low 40s [40-42] fans going at half speed, usually these things don't make such a dramatic difference with idle temps, but it seems here the extra airflow really helps. [U3 has 3 silent usb fans, xps 15 has 3 open vents on bottom have fan under each ;), fans are clipped onto bottom of cooler so you can put them where they do the most good]

Under load [Prime95] stays around 60-64.

    This is with an i5.

XPS 15 only has one fan underneath the left most port near the exhaust vent, which is probably why it gets so darn hot.
I'm planning on getting a cooling pad eventually to push cool air through the other open ports.
But after putting Liquid Ultra on it, I'm not sure how necessary it is unless I OC it a lot as temps dont go over 80 anymore.

There are 3 vents on the bottom of the 15. Just put a fan under each blowing in..
