Hello everyone, so I cant decide whether to get an the dell xps i5 with 4gb of RAM or the an i7 with 8gb of ram. The i5 is an i5-2430M while the i7 is an i72630QM. Both have same HDD. Same display at 1920 x 1080p, and the same GPU ( Geforce GT 525M )

    Price of the i5 = $920
    Price of the i7 = $1100

also, the i7 doesnt have backlit keyboard.

I am a college student and I need a laptop that will last at least 6 hours battery life. I am also going to do a lot of web browsing, word processing, some gaming every now and then. What do you guys think?

Actually $230 doesn't sound like a limited time discount.... in Canada that is the usual 'discount' for the i5 base model, with frequent sales that reduce it even further.

For web browsing and word processing and light gaming the i5 is more than enough. You can also get the 4GB from Dell, and upgrade the RAM at a later date for a much lower price.

I agree, i would get the i5 and just upgrade the ram myself but for your needs 4gb will probably be ample.
