So basically I'm a little hesitant on buying the XPS M1530 because of the GPU. The 8600gt DDR3 is a great dont get me wrong its just that i wont something more advanced. So I asked a dell agent and got a straight answer. NO. Is it possible dell is ending its current line of XPS laptops. I think DELL might be hinting a NEW LINE of XPS laptops pending the Montevina release. Or am I just being hopeful????

    Here is the conversation.

    6:12:20 PM Marc Hi julia
6:12:27 PM Marc i wanted to know about upgrades
    6:12:28 PM XPS_RR_Rep_Julia Hi.
6:12:36 PM XPS_RR_Rep_Julia What would you like to know?
6:13:11 PM Marc if i ordered an xps m1530 today and say a month later a better GPU video card came out, would dell be able to do the upgrade for me
6:13:38 PM XPS_RR_Rep_Julia There won't be a better card come out for that system.
6:13:50 PM Marc ok thank you
6:14:03 PM XPS_RR_Rep_Julia Can I help you build a system?
6:14:09 PM Marc no thank you
6:14:26 PM XPS_RR_Rep_Julia Can I help you place your order so that I can make sure the order processes flawlessly?
    6:14:32 PM Marctno thanks
6:14:42 PM XPS_RR_Rep_Julia When you get ready to order I will be happy to help you with it so that I can make sure it goes through correctly. You can email me. [email protected] What is your email address? I will shoot you an email so that way you can just reply to it.
6:14:53 PM Marc hypothetically speaking if a video card came out that was betterwould it be possible to upgrade
6:15:14 PM XPS_RR_Rep_Julia You can buy it separately and upgrade it yourself.
6:15:21 PM XPS_RR_Rep_Julia But, it will not happen on that system

    Tell me what you think???

it sorta makes sense, cuz if they upgrade the vid card of that, the older versions of the m1530 might not be able to upgrade at all, it would require some major change on the board so yea.

Or maybe she is telling you that they're not going to make another card for the XPS M1530 and you should buy another system that already exists?

To think they are going to put better cards in newer systems would be obvious, to say the least, but to think this is hinting? No, this is telling you that the XPS M1530 is not getting any new video cards packaged for it.

I'm betting that the next generation of M1500's will have the 9000m Nvidia GPU's in it. These will have hybrid-SLI for lower power consumption when not on AC power. Unfortunately there are no release Dell dates yet, so these could be a least few months away.

Or maybe the Studio release means that Dell is planning to update their XPS line, too, so there's more of a performance difference? They're also updating their Latitude line soon, they'll need to do something to make the XPS line a bit different. We'll probably know in two weeks when Montevina is released.

The reason why u can't get another graphic card is because the graphic card on m1530 is onbard card you can't upgrade or take it out.
