First post, so here goes:
I received my 1730 and when I put it on a desk the thing rocks if you press on a corner because its rubber foot doesn't touch the ground.
There is also a fifth rubber foot under the hdd cover (i think) which doesn't come close to touching the ground.
I rang DELL support and they had to get someone to pick it up to investigate the problem because they've never had an issue like this on the 1730. I'm in Australia, so they sub-contracted the work to UNISYS.
I got it back and its improved somewhat, but the middle foot still doesn't touch the ground and it is still prone to a small amount of rocking.
It is nowhere near as stable/flat as my Inspiron 9400.
Can any 1730 owners check their units and post to let me know if they have/had similar issues with the rubber feet?
Should I contact DELL again about the issue?
Some other issues with the quality of the laptop:
- Both the headphone jacks have a significant amounts of noise. One is worse than the other
- The two right hand buttons under the Logitech LCD Gaming display aren't lined up properly
- The plastic which surrounds the video out ports (DVI and s-video) is loose
-
I did initially think mine wasn't flat but it turned out to be my desk :-D, sorry not much help I know.
My headphone jacks work fine with me but I have yet to plug a 5.1 surround sound system into it.
The plastic is 'slightly' loose on the DVI & Svideo but I don't think it will affect anything so I'm not going to worry about it. -
My 1520 seems uneven also, but when I take it it to work or to the kitchen it seems stable and even. It keep be the table

MrBubbles, Does your 1730's fifth, middle rubber foot touch the table - the flat table
or is there a gap?
