Hello, I just got my DELL XPS14 and first I have to say, this notebook really shocked me. I love it!!

As for my question, I was just wondering if the HDMI port on this thing only outputs in stereo, or is there a way I can get it to output in surround mode?

Playing an HD movie out of the HDMI port and into my Marantz HD, the Marantz is only picking up a stereo signal from the notebook. Can it output in surround?

    Thanks!

Never tried it myself, I can check it out for you when I get home. Another option you would have is to call/chat with a tech support rep in the XPS department and they should be able to help you.

Well for it to output in surround sound you need something with more then two channels of audio (Pro Tip: MP3 = Stereo). Try playing a DVD.

You can change the output by managing it at sound card.

Just press the second touch sensitive light button over thekeyboard and you shall open audio option, just change from stero to 5.1 and if should do the trick.
