I think I already made a post about this a couple of months ago but now I actually want to do something about it. The DVD drive in my replacement Studio XPS 1640 just like it's now defunct brother the M1530 has had a DVD drive failure....what IS it with the DVD drives they put in these computers? Anyway, does the DVD drive require the keyboard to be removed so it can come up through that way or can I remove it through the bottom?

Ya you have to remove the top part (keyboard) to gain access to the dvd drive. I have had to replace mine twice already. Both times stopped reading any dual layer discs. Both times it was a PLDS DL8ATS drive.
