    Hi,

    I have an I7 XPS 15 L501x which I'm very pleased with.

One thing that bothers me though is that the fan stays on quite forcefully almost all of the time - even when the temps are really low.

The graphics card is showing only 42c at the moment, yet the fan is running at full pelt.

The card shows it can operate at 3 different performance states - p0, P8 and P12 - though it always stays in the high/3d state of p0. I'm wondering if this is why the fan always stays on?

Does anyone know if it's possible to allow the state to change? I can force it lower by using Powermizer which works - but then I have to keep changing it if I want to play a game etc.

    Any ideas?
