Hi guys, I placed an order for XPS 17 on 11/26/2010 and the estimated delivery day was 12/16/2010 which is reasonable, but today, it updated to 01/20/2011 and this is absolutly not acceptable.
I am wondering if 2 month time for an order to be delivered is normal or not.
Any help would be very apperaciated!

Where are you & what spec did you order?
-
hoping mine isnt delayed, ordered on the 6th of december, EDD 23 of december >.>
id be gutted if it is, since i had one practically at my door step, but canceled the order to re-order with a blu-ray drive -
If you build one from Dells website the base configuration EDD is 12/22. The 640GB hard drive changes it to 12/27 and the GT 445M changes it to 1/18. I ordered with both on 11/26 and my original edd was 12/15 and it just changed to 1/21. Might cancel and get Asus, i dunno.

I ordered on the 6th of December too. EDD of 28th of December, even though I chose delivery before Christmas.
Got the i7 740QM, 4GB RAM, 500GB Hard Drive, 445M GT, and BR-ROM.
As of this morning it is "In Production" is this a good sign?
EDIT: I'm in Ireland by the way, I think my order is being built here. -
where are u located?
edit: mines still on "work in progress" -
Must have quoted as soon as u edited
im in london, my last one was shipped all the way from china!
darn, why did i have to cancel lol, i hope my EDD doesnt change -
-
i also used a 10% discount voucher (the 2nd time) which brought the price down by £2 from the original £854 without the blu-ray drive haha, so i cant complain i guess -
Ha, I used a 5% voucher when I ordered mine, brought be down to €1045 from €1100. I pretty much ordered the Bluray drive so I don't regret it at a later date.
Yesterday I just ordered another 500GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM, at about 1/4 of the cost dell were asking for -
it was £330 extra for FOUR extra gigs of memory, when i can get that for around £65 lol
im also lookin to get an extra 4gb and possibly an SSD, but those are quite expensive. -
The Desktop I had, which I sold to fund this XPS purchase, had a 60GB OCZ Vertex II SSD, while it was crazy fast, it was just too small for the price.
I'd say wait until you can get a 128GB or 256GB for £100 or less. -
-
Also, was the backlit keyboard an option for you? Or does it come by default in the EU versions?
-
If you really want one I guess you can wait until people start selling them n change it yourself
Stupid of dell not to offer it huh -

I think they try and cover themselves with the EDD, but I'll be pretty pissed if I don't get it before the 23rd, like I was guaranteed when I ordered.
