I think that the problem with the Alps touch pad has to do with the Dell driver on their website. I too am having trouble with the sensitivity. I sometimes have to tap on something several times before it registers. I did a clean install with Vista Pro and the touch pad worked flawlessly. I then noticed that I couldn't scroll in firefox so installed the XPS driver from Dell and now the touchpad has returned to the way it was. Does anyone know how I could uninstall the driver use the default touchpad controls from vista?

i would like the 1530 a lot more if it used the synaptics touchpad which i really like. i don't know if this is possible cus they are physically different sizes.

Cheers and glad you worked it out.
