Hello everyone.
This is my first post but I've read a lot of good information on here lately. I'm planning on buying a Dell xps m1530 a few months from now and have been trying to do some reading on them. I just came across this article at this url:
http://www.decheung.com/2007/03/how...y-dell-ati-hypermemory-nvidia-turbocache.html
While I'm not looking at that particular card, I am looking at the 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT video card. I was wanting to make sure this one has 256MB of dedicated (discrete?) video memory and not 128MB.
Any Info is greatly appreciated.![]()
Also, how large of a difference would the 'Turbo Cache' make compared to fully dedicated?

I am certain the 8600M GT only comes in 256mb or 512mb.
Make certain you get GDDR3 memory and not the slower GDDR2, a lot of 512mb versions come with GDDR2.

The XPS has 256MB of GDDR3
The only 128MB one is one of the macbookpro. The 14'' T61p also comes with a 64bit bus rather than 128bits -
TurboCache/Hyper Memory is dynamically allocated RAM that is borrowed by the GPU for use as VRAM. Its performance is on par with integrated graphics memory performance; it sucks.
Call Dell to get the answer straight from the horse's mouth. -
Dell "256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT" actually 128MB?
