I placed an order for a 1530 online on 8/20 and the estimated ship date is 9/16. Seems like a long time to me - that's almost one month. How accurate do these estimated ship dates turn out to be? How likely is it that it might ship earlier? How much earlier might it ship? I am just wondering what other's experiences have been as of late. Thanks.

Well, I might as well answer the question. From my experience it takes a little bit less time than the first ESD. Mine said 9/1 for a Intel wireless card but now it has changed to 8/26 which is tomorrow. It's very likely the ship date is exaggerated just to cover their tracks if they take longer than they actually expect to. When the production is almost finished, it'll show a more accurate ESD, especially when the laptop has finally been shipped. It took my laptop and my separate wireless card both 11 days to arrive in Canada.
Your location is a major factor.
Also I'd suggest you cancel the order and reorder it with the Intel Wireless N instead of the Dell Wireless 1505. It's the Intel 4965AGN. Just from my experience with the Dell card. -
Oh yeah, go for the Intel 4965AGN... always better than the Dell card..
PS., Phaam > I was actually advised by a senior mod here to first request for moving the thread and then reply from the new placeHence my previous post. Anyway. Good Luck.
Cheers.

Ahh, I figured as much, you seem to like answering questions haha. I didn't mean to give any wrong impressions
I'm hoping to install the 4965AGN tomorrow. I'm excited. This Dell card has trouble connecting unless I restart my router. =/ -

Take the Intel wireless drivers from here according to your OS... and install them. Instructions are there in the Intel page.. but its quiet simple. -
fonduekid has kindly provided the drivers, but there's also the hardware swap. The laptop was made so that the wireless card would be easily accessible after opening a compartment on the bottom of the laptop. The only reason they're sending it to me is because it's easy enough for me to do and it saves a lot of time.
-
Ah heck... *knock myself on my head* sorry I forgot the hardware part... I apologize. Yes, Phaaam is right.. and for the drivers, you can look at the link I posted though..
-
Hey, Just a add..don't forget that Dell aways *over-projects* the ESD
They do this in case something is on backorder, etc.
You may get if sooner...(pending that you don't cancel the current order & reorder)

I called Dell and the only way to (now) get the Intel card in place of the Dell card, is to cancel and re-order. With the long build-times, I don't think I want to do that. So I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed with the Dell card, and if I have issues, I'll have to request they send me Intel's version. -
Even with sending the separate card, it's taking a ridiculously long time. I'm sure they could do better, but it's as if they don't have any priorities on what they're sending. The wireless card takes the same amount of time to send as my M1530 laptop =/ W/e I guess, it's almost here.

Well my ESD is September 2 and it is already the 25th so we will see if the ESD is exaggerated. I actually wish there wasn't a separate general shipping forum and these would stay in here. I don't want to wade through all the shipping problems of other models. I just want to read about XPS shipping issues. I could see if it is a general question but if it only pertains to the XPS shouldn't it be in the XPS area? IMO it is a PITA to go over there when I want to read about shipping updates on the XPS line.

ordered 6/23 had est del date of 8/6 rec on 6/30 so a good chance you will get much sooner than est date
