just wanted to let you guys know that the above mentioned adapter works fine as a "mini docking station", allowing to connect two screens via HDMI (though it won't give you 4K, I guess). I connected LAN, HDMI, an USB Hub with keyboard, mouse and a headset without issues.
The only thing that needed to be done was to update the thunderbolt firmware on my notebook (using a Precision 5510, which is basically just a XPS with different graphics adapter). Before the update, the screen was recognized in the display settings, but no picture was shown.
As others mentioned, the fan noise raises a bit when it's connected, but the noise level is ok to me.

Oh, just noticed that after updating the Thunderbolt firmware, HDMI works fine, but USB is now unusable!
It's disconnecting every few seconds, anyone else facing such an issue? Refers to the adapter's USB port only, the notebook connectors are fine.
