Hi Guys:
I'm fairly tired of working with 1366x768. I intended to purchase a Sager NP 5135 with a full 1900 x 1080 display, which has received extremely good reviews. Some compare the quality/sharpness to that of the MBP. However, thew new Dell XPS 15 appears to be an attractive alternative.
Can anyone comment on the quality of the Dell XPS displays? Does it have wide viewing angles? Also, crisp and true are the colors on the Dell displays?
Thanks,
C.
p.s. What would you guys consider more desirable? One 9 cell battery or two 6 cell batteries?

What will you be using the laptop for? If you ask "are the colors true on the Dell displays", the answer is that no laptop displays have true colors at factory settings, even after calibration... For that you need something like an IPS screen with perfectly even backlighting. Some uber expensive desktop monitors might come close though.
Based on couple of Dell reviews I've seen from notebookcheck site, Dell does consistently offer laptops with better displays than other manufacturers - although the differences are small at best.... And only at low-end segment. On the other hand, most FHD displays seem to have better contrast ratio and color gamut regardless of manufacturer... Dell's RGB LEDs are different story though, as they are top of the class.
Most laptop sold nowadays have acceptably wide horizontal viewing angles, though vertical viewing angle is much more restricted. But you can't expect much from TN panels anyway, due to color shifting depending on the angle of view.
Since the 15.6" FHD B+RG LED display on the new XPS 15 seem to be a new one, you'll have to wait until a proper review comes out... Though I've heard that the previous 17" FHD B+RG LED was a great performer. (maybe not as much as RGB LED) -
bt you are first person to call xps 15 as ""ATTRACTIVE"" alternate

Dell does tend to have very good quality laptop displays compared to most manufacturers. The WLED on the SXPS 16 is quite excellent for a WLED/TN panel. The B+RG display in the XPS 15 should have a higher color gamut, but for everything else you'll have to wait for a review to be sure, but I'd assume it'd be above average at least.
As far as viewing angles, it's a TN panel, so it will have poor vertical viewing angles, just like 99.99% of all laptops. -

I consider that non-existent! LMAO
