Hi, trying to do a factory image restore on my Studio XPS 1640. I've done this before on other Dells but this one I don't see the Dell image restore option as said in the booklet. I don't see the Dell Facotry TOols either. I just have the following: startup repair, system restore, system image recovery, windows memory diagnostic, and command prompt. I chose system image recovery and it doesn't pull up anything - it's for my own images I made. No option to pull up my Dell factory image which I still have in it's own seperate partition. I googled it and saw someone else had this issue but it was not solved.

Help please, need to restore it tonight so I can ship it off tomorrow! Thanks

specs in sig, but Win7 64bit Ultimate is my OS, did a clean install for it before. I had Vista from factory.

I suppose my other option is just to do a clean install with my Dell reinstallation DVD of Vista SP1?

Ya, Im not sure on the answer, but installation from the dell reinstallation disc is pretty fast and painless, the system is functional on the very first boot.

The thread in my signature may help you..

Thanks, I've just started on the reinstallation DVD after formatting my HDD via the custom options. Then will be using the Win7 upgrade disc I was given and bam in the mail it goes =)
