what is the thing in first picture, another apple wannabe?
when you hired ppl from motorola and GM to run your company,
you know you are financially screwed.
exactly, dell now has ppl who used to work for department stores like macys
determinds the products and pricing on computers.
only ppl who knows nothing about computers would design dell xps lines
    like xps m1330 m1530 studio 13 and studio 16, exxcludes m1730.
m1330/1530/studio 13/16= "apple inside", it takes a complete idiot to design
motherboard and chassis as bad as apple's.
those models i mentioned is going to have as high as 20% overall motherboard failure rate during lifetime.
older model dell 700m/6000/1720 is close to 3% lifetime.

    XPS M1730
    XPS 730x with x panel
    Studio Hybrid One (bamboo)

however, their specs arent too appealing lol

"We can take out the non-value-adding functionality, such as too many connectors, and put value where people find it,"

"For instance, designers removed an external button for turning Wi-Fi on and off in the Dell XPS 1330 laptop. Now users have to go through the software program to do it."

I can understand if they want to use different materials to make them look pretty, but letting them remove usefulness for a slightly lower price or a slightly better paint job is not worth it. I hate laptops that force me to use the manufacturers software to control things such as wifi, keyboard lights, and whatnot, I'd rather them all be FN+ keys or even have dedicated keys. I dual boot linux on all my machines and OSx86 on some, I loose all that functionality when I use a non-windows OS.

Let the designers design the outside and that's all, they know nothing of how computers work and should not touch the hardware.

As for apple, don't get me started. All their overpriced PCs running OpenBSD using mostly open source software they slap their name on are a joke...

    What??

Where are you getting that Dell hired peep's from Macy's to work for them??
It states nothing like that in the article.

    And, as for your statement:

Obviously, they do know a few things about computers..because they are selling well, as peeps like myself, and others on the forum are still purchasing them. I like my 1530 it was designed well and holds up well...It may have a faulty GPU issue..but as long it as hasn't affected my 1530 yet. I'm good to go.

Remember your on the Dell forum...where most peep's like their lappys!

Ed Boyd FAIL. Both the M1330 and the M1530 have a dedicated hardware switch for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Mobile Broadband.

I think he meant they were removed from their replacements, the Studio XPS 13 and 16.

Ermm....What does this have to do with the Dell XPS, and Studio XPS Line?

Why not just create a thread for this if so needed, in the main Dell forum??
And, honestly it's not so bad of an idea..they just need to go back to their design/marketing *team* and rethink this thru.
Get together with a targeted *group of da ladies* *cough* and see what we really want on a woman's dedicated tech site! :D

Well you have to give them some credit for attempting to create more targeted marketing, even if they have a few missteps out of the gate. :) Hopefully, if things go well, they'll expand microsites like this for more market segments.
I'm sure it'll be fleshed out with more meaningful content soon.
