Hi guy's well as the title reads i get a some FPS problems in older games and in some newer ones let me start of by saying
I've downloaded all the required drivers![]()
It's not running on my internal Card
I've tried updating my bios/chipset
Thats about it really
Well Basically i play games like cod4/Minecraft/Css etc My fps is fine on CSS but when it comes to Cod4 i run it on about medium FPS and for optimal online you need about a minimum of 125 fps but recommended is about 250 as cod4 is an old game (2007) really i should generally be able to get that as my old PC with a GT 9600 512mb card and a 2.5GHz dual core could get it no problem.
Its weird i can get about 80 fps on cod4 unless i play in a very small resolution which isn't idealbut on games like Batman Arkam Asylum i can get about 100ish fps on high settings
also minecraft has been acting very weird recently i've been getting weird chunk loading's and low fps no matter what i change the settings too, I was wondering if anyone else has been experiencing these problems and if i could maybe get a helping hand?
Thanks in advanced!
p.s My specs are:
4GB Ram
i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40Ghz Quad Core
525GTM 1GB
I also i use windows 8 but thats made no different as i had windows 7 before hand

Sounds like you're doing everything right, but I think you might have a slightly different expectation of your GPU than most other people would.
I don't know about you, but I never managed to get 80 fps in Modern Warfare (1), even with my GT540. You must be running at a low resolution to get that fps. And I certainly never got 100 fps in Arkam Asylum either.
if you're actually getting 80 fps in CoD, then you shouldn't be claiming to have problems with your GPU's performance... especially with the GT 525M. That GPU, even the 540M, is not powerful. It is a very mid-range card, so to be getting 80 fps is a very, very good thing. If you ask me, you're getting absolutely fantastic frame rates - you should be extremely happy with those frame rates!
Also, the i5 you listed is not quad core, careful with that moniker - you have hyper-threading which means that for each "physical" core you have 2 logical ones. It's really just a dual core processor with 2 physical and 2 logical cores (for a total of 4). A true quad core will have 4 physical and 4 logical cores (for 8 in total). -
daver's reply is right. I had a i7 quad sandy with GT540m and I was lucky to get framerates near what you're getting.

Thanks Dave for telling me really didn't know that! I'm new to worrying about whats in my computer, Always hated hardware haha!
No but honestly it's very weird as i really should be getting more FPS at least in MW1 as my brother has a Dell Studio (forget the exact model) but it's a old one from about 2010 it has a i7 but my i5 is specced better he can get 250 fps no problem, also as i was saying before my now low end graphics card of my old computer which is a 9600GT which has very low spec's compared to my 525 and i get 250 constant with that and on the same resolution just don't understand how an older PC with not as good spec's can out performance a newish computer
Also the FPS are random guesses i think i was roughly getting a min of 70ish on the batman game it went up and down a lot according to Xfire's ingame FPS
But thanks for the reply's guys!
EDIT: I've used Nvidia Inspector and GPU-z To watch my laptop whilst playing Minecraft(I will do it with cod4 tomorrow) and i get about
Min 18% - Max 54% GPU Usage
GPU Clk : Constant 595MHz (Is that normal?)
GPU - Voltage 950mV
GPU Temp: 65 Degree's -
I'm wondering what's going on there. Could you download and run the Resident Evil 5 benchmark tool and run the variable benchmark with the following settings:
1280x800
Shadow = High
Texture = High
Overall quality = High
Anti Alias = x2
Motion blur = On
VSync = off
I'm actually curious to see what's going on. Even with my eGPU running a GTX650 Ti, I only get ~140 fps. I'm curious to see how well your 525 fares in a contained benchmark. -
What i'm saying is i should be reaching 250 fps for cod4 atleast.. like i said i used to run it a lot better on my older PC which is outspeced by my laptop and my brother's lower speced laptop got 250 FPS easy, it's not hard to get it in cod4 but it seems to be with my laptop for some reason
I'm downloading the benchmark tool if i don't post tonight i'll post tomorrow when it's finished downloading! -
on my Intel HD Graphics card 55.6 fps and on my 525 43.5 :/ ..
I don't see how my Intel Graphics card got better than my Nvidia. That's weird..
