Congrats mrKuji you got a good deal.

You do know with the 9 cell battery that it sticks out a little and increases the weight of the laptop from 4.2 with the 6 cell to 4.7 with the 9 cell? I wanted the 9 cell first but then i found this out about the extra weight and the battery sticking out so i asked for the 6 cell back instead.

I think that Dell maybe trying to cut the discounts a little now. They have had some errors on their website that did allow people to get more money of.

I'm happy with my specification, however, i'm not sure i should have stuck with the base 1yr warranty. My old Dell inspiron 8100 is still going good and i've had that for since Jan 2002. Only issue i had was harrdisk faliure so i bought a new one and popped it in.

Is it worth me calling Dell back up and trying to get some extra deal sorted out for extra Warranty or shall i wait to recieve it and try returning it then or should i just leave it now?

I see that Dell is trying to implement some demand management for the LED backlit display. The cost of that option on the Dell UK site has now increased to £129.25 (a ~£50 increase).

John I notice that your est delivery date is the same as mine, is your's on 'Pre-Production' as well? Mines just sat on that from the word go!

Also that's a cheeky price hike on the LCD screen...

Just to add my two pence worth the EMEA order tracking page for the new Inspirons appears to be a bit out of sync with what Dell personnel are saying.

I've currently got a new M1330 (ETA 19th July) and a new Inspiron 530 (ETA 17th July) desktop on order and both their tracking pages say they're in pre-production.

I've been assured today by my sales rep that my M1330 is in production and also by customer services that both orders are now in production and on schedule for their estimated deliveries.

Just to confuse matters I received a phone call last week to tell me my order had entered production and was due for delivery Friday 13th, apparently this was the laptop order, but this appears to have been completely wrong.

Yes. Pre-production as of 6th July and no movement.

Dell were offering very attractive pricing on that LCD display option and I think they have got an unexpected number of orders. I look on that price adjustment as reasonable demand management while some of the other options are simply a rip-off.

Yes, either the order status site or the personnel are wrong. My sales rep said on Monday that my order was in production. Maybe the next we will get is a despatch notification. :) I hope it is that and not a delay notification.

    John

I have just rechecked with my sales rep who says that there is a problem with the order status website and my order is in production and should arrive before the estimated date.

Yuk! The price for the LED screen increased by ~100% on the swedish site, but the T7300 is back as an option... It's still going to be expensive when I spec it the way I want it, it's ending up pretty close to an MBP right now...

I have seen no change on my order status page this week. I hope the Dell sales rep is correct when he says it is the order status system is broken and not the production line.

Dell UK has now amended its M1330 prices and removed the introductory offers. The £799 version is now £829 and the £849 version is now £899.

The £0 USB modem has now disappeared.

And at the moment the T7700 has reappeared as a £94 upgrade from the T7100. There's no trace of the T7300.

The dmx link does not appear to be working anymore. It is lucky that some of us ordered when we did.
It appears that they have done the same error that they had last weekend where they listed the T7700 as the T7300. Some people may well find themselves getting a very deal good on the 2.2 processor if they placed their ordered over the phone and speced the 2.4 in their basket. They will most likely get called back and told that the T7700 is incompatible with this laptop and they will be probably be offered the 2.2 processor for a decent price.

Those who order over the web will probably have their orders canceled.

Ditto on the above, im guessing if you actually place an order on the 2.4 your reciept will actually say 2.0 (I did another order to check the last time this occured) shame about the DMX link dying as well, perhaps a new deal will surface, I wouldn't hold my breath mind as they're not exactly struggling to shift these.

Got a call from dell 20 mins ago saying my order is now in production :)

Very interesting to see UK prices for the 1330 today. Aside from the obvious glitch of the T7700, my configuration is about £100 more (before any discounts) than when I placed my order last week.

It's rare to see prices of computer equipment actually going up.

For once early adopters have not been penalised for ordering early!

I'm actually a bit annoyed...when I ordered my M1330 it came to £1,079 ex VAT.

    Specs are:

    2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo
    2Gb RAM
    200Gb 7200rpm HDD.
    LED Screen

Now, I can get exactly the same spec BUT with 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo for £1,089 ex VAT (£10 difference! Was ~£150 extra when I ordered mine).

Have e-mailed Customer Services to see what they can do for me, as that has annoyed me somewhat.

    T7300
    WLED screen
    2GB ram
    160GB hard drive
    6 cell battery
    8400M GS 128MB
    Wireless-N
    Bluetooth
    Fingerprint reader
    3 yr hardware support

Whoa... didn't notice my thread became 8 pages long. :) I think my deal was OK (back on the 2nd page)... I seemed to have saved near enough £250 for what it says on the UK Dell website. Was slightly worried when I saw the T7700 being offered for the price of the T7300.

I have been thinking though - should I have configured it with a T7500 instead, but how easy is it to clock the T7300 to 2.2GHz? I wish I also got the finger print reader in there aswell. Just noticed prices are have gone up by £40 for this build.

Just for reference - I ordered mine on the 6th July and it's still on pre-production as of 7th July with an estimated delivery of 1st August. :(

Im sure a lot of you will already be aware but the reason for the delay in the UK is that they have no screens (LED or LCD) They were due into the manufacturing plant today (friday 13th) so there is a distinct possibility that the very first units will be shipped on Monday/Tuesday.

According to the very nice peeps in XPS tech support in Dublin i am top of a long list of orders due to the fact that its not a new sale for me it's a replacement for a faulty M1210 that they couldnt repair (the parts i needed are no longer made)

I will keep you posted with any more news, i am called most days with a update.

P.S i wonder if being one of the first will be a bad thing though, either they will take extra time and care on the first batch or they will be using sticky back plastic and superglue after forcing it all to fit into the chassis lol

P.P.S Dont forget that once they start building & testing them there is bound to be problems that will delay it even longer. Even Dell's website now states on the config page "Please be advised that there currently is an extended lead-time of approximately two weeks on Dell XPS M1330 Notebooks"

P.P.P.S I wish they wouldnt bother releasing something until they could actually provide it.

I had a call from Dell on Thurs 12th saying that mine had gone into production, however the website even now still says pre production...

If they do indeed just randomly put the date back I'm very tempted to just cancel and go elsewhere, my experience with dell so far has been unprofessional, and frankly poor.

Yes, it does put people off and I'm sure it would probably make me reconsider if they decide to keep pushing the EDD to a later date. That's just unprofessional, we need definite times as to when they would be on our doorstep not just random dates, they may aswell put Q4 2007 as the EDD.

Im not convinced personally. When they called me this morning I asked wether all the parts had come in yet and i was told "no" so i then asked why they had just said it will be delivered by the end of the week........they didnt know  (this was a call from customer care, not irish tech support)

Maybe ill know more later in the day.

I've had enough of 'customer care' already, ringing me up to tell me pointless crap (especially when it's lies). They always go on to ask 'is there anything else I can help you with Mr Scott?' well no, because I didn't ask for your help in the first place!

I wish they would quit bugging me and just do their ******* job and get it delivered for the 20th, if I wanted to know my order progress I would check it online, I don't need 4/5 phonecalls whenever someone wipes their arse at dell

3 days to go... So realistically the latest it should be shipped for my 20th delivery date should be Thursday, and guess what, yes despite 2 phone calls to the contrary, the online status remains in 'pre-production'

Hi, my first post here and only stumbled across this forum when looking for a new laptop ...very usefull indeed.

Anyway guys, I ordered my DELL 1330 on Monday and the estimated ship time is the 1st week of Aug, I managed to haggle a little with the guys on the phone and think I got a little discount. Please dont tell me I got ripped off! I guess its whats your prepared to pay, I could tell the guy on the phone was on some kind of margin/comission!

Dont ask me why I went for the SSD HD option, I wanted to extend the battery life and also reduce weight and have faster bootup times

I also went to the WWAN option as I have an unlimted T mobile web n walk HSDPA tariff ( 7 pounds a month!), I thought about using my existing USB HSDPA card, but felt the internal card would have better reception and also draw less battery power.

I guess the challenge is streamlining the VISTA installation to take as little space as possible. This will be my primary laptop and the main use will be used for currency trading and charts/modelling.

Would be keen to hear your views on any of the above, The list price is around 1850, I am paying 1450.

Am I the only one going for the SSD option here?

P.S I plan on intsalling Ubantu!

'Estimated Delivery Date (on or before this date): 17/08/2007'

fuming, thats nearly a MONTH they have put onto my delivery date, seriously considering to tell them to get fu****

especially after they have lied TWICE telling me it had already gone into pre-production, god help them if they call me.

I got the same treatment overnight: 20 July >> 17 August (= + 4 weeks) and they changed the pre-production date date from 6th July to 18th July.

    I am reviewing my options.

The trigger for changing the date seems to be 2 working days before the EDD. I think you will get bad news tomorrow.

Im really torn as to what Im going to do here, I will give them the chance to at least expalin what the reasoning behind this delay is, if they don't offer a further discount or insentive I dare say I will be looking elsewhere, the thing is though, at what? the M1330 was the first ultra portable to fully suit my needs...

I'm currently working on a list of demands for when this happens :p

£100 off and a second battery so far haha

I WISH i could cancel it..but its the only laptop I want. The only other one is the 14" vostro but I don't want that as much as the xps and it'll probably suffer the same late delivery fate anyway.
