What kit do you have fitted to your laptop that has not ben installed / working?
Wi-fi, wired ethernet, bluetooth, hsdpa, webcam, soundcard, graphics card, turbo memory module? -
It's the Ricoh card reader. Just install the Vista 64 one from Dell's site and it'll work fine. Let me know if you can't find it. (I think it's under a Chipset category.)

the MS update installed that already and its still there. I will check dells site. to the above my wi-fi, ethernet, bluetooth, webcam, fingerprint reader, soundcard, gfx all work.
I thought with the SS that was a specific one. I am not even sure i like the 64bit. it seems things like photoshop cs4 installed a 32 and 64bit and now i have a program files and a program files x86. seems as if all the 64bit does is waste more hdd space. -
If you have a large HDD the space problem is mute. Win7 only takes up to 20gb space. Adobe Photoshop comes with 32 and 64bit because some plug-ins won't work in 64bit.

x64 does not just waste hdd space! The seperate "Program Files" are needed and you wll be thankful for them. Photoshop CS4 x64 is better than the 32-bit version (more memory=larger images). Things like 7-zip x64 really make you appreciate the x64 stuff
On-topic: It's more than likely either the Ricoh memory controller/reader or something chipset related. -
yeah i know, im just saying 64bit just does not really seem worth it. I only have 3gb of ram. i thought i would notice something spectacular and i still have not. seems as fast if not slower in certain circumstances.

djtoodles,
The card reader driver is in two parts. The first is for the SD reader and the second is the Sony MS reader (same slot though). Head to this thread and download the x64 drivers. Do not install them using the setup.exe. Just extract the drivers to a folder and then use device manager to install them manually (pointing to the folder with the drivers).
