I recently ordered the new medium premier sleeve from Dell to hold my infinity edge XPS 15, and wanted to share my thoughts here.

I was able to use a 10% accessory coupon, as well as select free overnight shipping at checkout. The sleeve actually arrived overnight (it shipped from TN to NC) in a comically oversized box. Much, much bigger than the box containing my new laptop, even though the sleeve itself folds completely flat and would ship well in an envelop. I'm always surprised when online retailers ship so inefficiently.

The sleeve itself is very thin and provides minimal padding. I would describe the construction as two thin sheets of rigid material, likely plastic, sandwiched between a black synthetic soft-touch on the outside, and red microfiber on the inside. The outer material is stitched with red at the edges, and has a feel somewhere between suede, vinyl, and rubber. The whole thing is quite "springy."

The "lid" consists of two magnetic flaps that seal gently by folding 90 degrees on top of one another. It is extremely easy to move the laptop in and out. my 9550 fits securely inside with some cushion around the edges, but no movement within.

Overall I am pleased with this sleeve, although it is a bit expensive at $50. The edges are not padded or plated, but there seems to be sufficient excess material here to provide some protection. The most important feature of this sleeve is that it folds completely flat and works quite well as a lap desk, with a footprint only slightly bigger than the computer itself. I can use it on the lap, couch, bed, or hard surface and not worry about clogging the fan intakes because of its rigidity. It also looks sleek and professional. There is a faint Dell logo embossed on one side.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. I can provide some pictures if you think that would help.

So the sleeve is secured just using magnets? No zipper? What if you turn the sleeve upside down and give it a few shake. Will the XPS-15 falls out?

Can post some pictures of the sleeve? Thanks

The old Dell XPS m1530 sleeve that came with the laptop was only magnets and was actually one of the best sleeves I ever got.

Also the amazon basics 14" laptop case fits it perfectly.

How did you order it? For some reason it doesn't show up on the US site.

I was surprised that it arrived overnight considering this page says "usually ships in 5-7 days."

Yes, the laptop is only secured in the sleeve by the magnet closure. If I invert the sleeve, hold it by the very corners, and give it a shake - the laptop will fall completely free. I can't imagine a situation where this would ever happen, so I am not concerned about it.

I think a more realistic example would be transporting in the car, tossing on top of a duffel full of clothes, in a backpack, around the house, etc.

I will try to post some pictures tomorrow.

Has anyone seen a sleeve that can hold both a laptop ( xps 15 )and a tablet ( iPad Air ) at the same time?
Looking for something to fit in my hand luggage that will make airport inspections sooo much easier.

Get the Amazon basic 14" case. It has a slot on the front that will fit a tablet. I put my Samsung pro 8.4 in it and can still carry the 13 or 15 in the main pouch.

Are you sure the Amazon basic 14'' sleeve fits? On the Amazon website it says that the internal length dimension is 13.2'' while the Dell xps15's dimension is 14.06. Also, I do not see a front pocket on the basic 14'' sleeve. Could you please send a link to the sleeve by any chance?

For reference, this is Amazon's 14 inch laptop sleeve: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00CD8AFFW

Which does not have extra pockets. However, the shoulder bag/case that gaidin43 linked to above does.

Does the dell premiere sleeve fit the xps 9550 snugly or or is there a little extra room? I have a xps 9530 which is about 1/4 inch larger on all sides. Thanks!

It is snug, it's also not that great. I would get another one for cheaper and better protection. No padding and doesn't really close.

Following up here, I received the dell premier sleeve ( http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=460-BBVF)

For folks who are looking for a laptop sleeve for an XPS 9530 (i.e. pre-2015 version of XPS; not the 9550), the above sleeve does not fit.

I am trying the Opin Slim Laptop Sleeve next tho not sure why it's so pricey (this sleeve is incorrectly described as leather on the Dell website I think... looks more like a denim material): http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A8471474

If anyone is interested, happy to report back whether or not it fits the 9530. Hope this helps!

Is the premier sleeve rigid enough to use as a surface for the laptop? I'd like a sleeve that I can also use on my lap whilst in bed, so the laptop has decent airflow.

EDIT: This video answered my questions:
