I just installed a 180GB SSD to my Dell SXPS 1640. I used the Dell Windows 7 x64 upgrade DVD to do a clean install of Windows 7 to my system. Install went off without a hitch and I began installing the Dell drivers from dell.ca, but whenever I try to install the Dell Quickset software I get an error saying this system is unsupported. Has anyone experienced this before?

Please help as this is frustrating not being able to use the Quickset keys.

    thx

Try this out: You need to remove all the 8GB of system memory and load it up with 2GB and then restart your laptop. Try installing QuickSet 64 then.

Good luck! It happened to my Studio 1555 too. That was what I did to circumvent it.

A less arduous method might work:

Without removing any memory modules, start msconfig from the Start Menu or the Run prompt.

On the Boot tab, select Advanced Options...

Check Maximum Memory and set it to 2. Ok --> Ok --> Restart. (If 2 doesn't do the trick, you might have to specify megabytes, i.e. 2048).

    Try installing Quickset again.

If it installs successfully, restart to complete any pending operations from the install, then undo the changes above and restart once more.
