Dell is sending me a 256GB SSD instead of the Blu-Ray Burner they were going to send me. I figured I'd rather have that since it already has a Blu-Ray reader and I never used my old BR Burner.

The lady said it was a Samsung SSD and would already have the 1645 image on it. My question is if it supports TRIM or not?

Anyone with a 1645 that is a newer model can you tell me the actual model? I'm wondering if it's the SAMSUNG MMDOE56G5MXP-0VB ?

I ordered my 1645 a few days ago so I haven't gotten it. But I did opt for the 256GB SSD option. All I can see from the component breakdown list is:

    256GB HIGH PERFORMANCE SSD,M1640

Not sure if that helps at all.

The Samsung Drives that Dell support Trim. Not that it matters really since Windows 7 support native trim anyway.

From what I was reading the drive needs to support trim for Win 7 to use it... I was reading this:

    Samsung SSD - Downloads

We shall see. Seems easy enough to update the firmware anyhow. Dell is sending the drive with the Windows Image already on in though so I figured I'd save time instead of having to update the firmware which formats the drive.

The Samsung SSD's that Dell use started shipping with the TRIM FW at around the beginning of this year, so you're safe.
unless you bought one from ~2 years ago, FW updates for support are easy.
