Dell Support in The Netherlands doesn't seem to be sending the Vista 64bit DVD :( Any Dutch people that did managed to get a 64bit Vista disc sent to them?

I talked to several reps and one of them even claimed that the DSN policy document with ID 158098 doesn't exist (even though Chris M from DellCommunity told me to contact support in the Netherlands and to mention the policy document to them). Another rep was aware of the forumpost where the DSN policy document is mentioned but also added that such a forumpost did not give me the right to a Vista 64bit disc.

It used to be Ultimate & Business, but as of recently Home Premium in the U.S. and Canada has become available as well.

No, for this part of it you are on your own for now.

Finally Dell Malaysia agreed to send me Vista x64 DVD!!

The Support guy really worry because he mentioned that Dell will not give 64-bit hardware drivers.

I said I don't care about the drivers, I just want the Vista x64 DVD :D

Yes, the M1530 thread for Vista x64 does a nice job with finding all the correct drivers. It is too bad they haven't gotten around to offering Vista x64 on the XPS line or at least give out the drivers like you will find on the Studio line.

You will probably have to transfer your system to Dell Slovakia and then deal with their customer service.

I sure hope they are still doing this when I finally get my computer one of these days. I was already told they would send it but they had to have my service tag first. I am figuring when I finally get it they will have put a stop to this.

I wouldn't worry about it to much. I have a feeling that with the amount of people requesting a 64-bit OS and HP now offering it with some of their systems Dell will continue to oblige their customers.

So, i'll need to write/call my slovak customer/technical support..

That will be hard. I dont think that anybody from our country has requested for this :/

I'm going to give this a shot. I don't have much to lose, in the sense that I do not even use Vista Home Premium anymore (which came with my system).

This time though, I'm serious. Give me my discs, or give me my money! :D

There is no reason either of you shouldn't be able to receive your 64-bit OS DVD's. Dell's main concern is for their customer to understand that they do not offer support for 64-bit on the 1530 at this time.

I phoned Dell in Canada and asked for the 64-bit version of Vista Home Preimum. At first the guy kept trying to tell me that he they cannot provide it to me because I did not order it with my laptop. I told him I'm allowed to have the 64 bit version of I have the 32 bit, and he says no, they are completely different products.

I then argued that I can use my product key that I have right now under my laptop. He keeps telling me that I cannot, so after about 10 minutes of argueing, I said "Don't you guys have a policy about this". He then said he has to check it up with his supervisor and he would phone be back in a few hours.

After a few hours, I got a phonecall from his co-worker to explain things to me. They told me that they do not support 64 bit, and they are working on the drivers and stuff, and told me to wait a few months to upgrade to 64 bit. I just asked if I was entitled to the CD, and he said yes, so he sent it to me. Told me it would take 3-5 days for it to arrive but it came next day.

Congratulations, and good for you for being persistent.

So just out of curiosity dellynelly, the support agent said Dell was in the process of developing drivers to support 64-bit on the 1530?

He said something like this but not exactly:

"We are currently working on things and testing them out so that the M1530 can be compatible with Vista 64-bit. Just wait a few months before upgrading".

He said that when we were talking about dell drivers for the m1530, because he didn't want me to upgrade to 64 bit because dell didn't officially support 64 with drivers yet.

Hey so I just got my 64-bit DVD one day after talking to Chris from the Dell forums. He gave me the following warning:

"Understand, once you load this 64bit Vista, Dell will not assist in any operating system, software, or driver issues. We will only assist in hardware failures. If you want support for operating system, software, or driver issues, you must remove the 64bit Vista and reload the 32bit Vista."

Talked with Dell today on their forum and they are shipping me the 64 bit DVD today. Already have a tracking number from DHL. No hassles, no questions, only thing that was asked was my name and shipping address. Couldn't have been simpler, thanks to everyone.

Same here. I've had great experience with DELL customer service, as well as the technical service. Sometimes things go wrong, but they correct everything immediately. I think some people are afraid of "accents" :D

I have to disagree with the customer service thing.

So as you may have heard some people haven't been getting accessories that come with the XPS systems. Dell has compensated some of those people with $100 coupons.
So I tried to do the same. After many hours of calling and speaking with about 7 different representatives, one representative gave me a $25 coupon. I wasn't happy with that so I pursued the issue further, sent in a complaint email, and a "customer service specialist" replied, agreeing to send me a $100 coupon. The very next day I got a call from Dell telling me that they would not send me the $100 coupon because a $25 one had already been sent. They wouldn't cancel the first one, or send me a $75 second one. I'm going to keep pursuing this issue because that is a really stupid policy. I paid a lot of money for a laptop that doesn't even use the latest technology, and has a faulty GPU, and they won't even compensate me for items that were supposed to be with the system in the first place.

Anyways, aside from that everything has been ok I guess. I was glad I could get a 64-bit Home Premium disc.

What accessories are you talking about?

I have seen people say they didn't earbuds or a remote control, and neither did I, but I figured it was because I didn't select certain options when I ordered.

Were these things supposed to come with mine?

Odd you don't know what you are missing until you know they were supposed to be there from the start.

One of the things I love about my HP laptop is the remote control for listening to music and what not. It would be seriously cool if my XPS was to have one as well.

Well my computer finally supposedly shipped after almost two months although DHL still doesn't show an actual pickup. So anyway I finally got a service tag to give to Chris and it was sent out right away and showed $1.91 or something like that but then the total was zero but then later that day I was trying to look at the invoice for my laptop and accidentally requested one for the order that the disk was on and now I got emailed an invoice for $2.15 and now $2.15 is showing up online. I emailed Chris and asked him if he could fix this for me. None of you got charged anything right?

Hi, thanks for the clarification that Dell will support 64 bit software if it came with the computer, not if you install it later, even with a Dell disc. That is silly. Same software, just different method of obtaining it. At any rate I am glad they are starting to have it as an option; about time :D!

When I was getting my screen switch replaced, (Just got off the phone with dell) they said. "I'm sorry can can not give away free copys of your Operating system, your welcome to purchase a copy of it." Well I know I am... I'll talk with the techy to see if he can get me a copy...

Edit: I had nothing to do, so I deicted to try online chat, they said they'll send it, took less then 10 mins. They said they didn't have Driver discs tho. O well :p I'll just slipstream them in. (Wonders if I can with x64)

Edit 2: The supervisor on the chat, said he gonna look into the dell phone support refusing to send me a x64 disc xD
