On 1.4.2008, I posted the below thread which was the start of a now 88 page thread on the failing motherboard/Nvidia graphics processors causing display issues for the M1330. I have not had any motherboard issues since my motherboard was replaced by Dell but others have not been so lucky.

On the down side, over the last 6-months my M1330 has become unusable due to an increasingly and dangerously hot wrist rest. My wrist rest is to the point where I cannot use the computer for more than 30-minutes after a cold boot. This is because the computer heats up so fast and the brushed aluminum wrist rest easily gets over 125 degrees Fahrenheit.
I talked to Dell and they shipped me an entirely new system. I just wanted to let others know just in case they are having the same problem.

Hopefully you're happy with your new system. I had my fair share of hot notebooks including Macbook Pros and HP DV6000s. However, the M1330 gets hot due to poor ventilation problems anyway. Good luck with your new one, although it's good that you have 9cell batteries, keeping the air flow.

what does HWMonitor say about the hard drive temp?
hard drive = under left-side of wristpad, very hot wireless card(no temp sensorsunder touchpad
-
Technically it's just a Mini PCIe slot. Maybe the antenna cables have to be adjusted. Anybody tried that?
In case you have an Intel card. Intel suggest adjusting the power saving mode for the WiFi card. Does it have an impact on temps?

After 30 minutes of use (only web surfing) from a cold boot the temps are:
Current, Low, High
ACPI 122, 106, 124
Core 0 118, 105, 123
Core 1 118, 105, 125
HDD 102, 100, 103 -

I think those temperatures are in F and not C.
And are you just getting a new replacement M1330 or something else? I think that another M1330 would be the same. -

These are definitely F and not C. Those temps (if C) woulld turn the plastic casing into a puddle.
The fan does turn on but infrequently. These temps are on a flat surface to allow ventilation underneath. -
Which BIOS are you running in your M1330 right now to where the fans are barely on?
-
ACPI 50, 41.1, 51.1
Core 0 47.8, 40.6, 50.6
Core 1 47.8, 40.6, 51.7
HDD 38.9, 37.8, 39.4
What are your GPU temperatures? -

What are your GPU temperatures?
HWMonitor only lists those four temps. -

Or use GPU-Z to get the GPU temp is all else fails. But those CPU/HDD temps are completely normal, and neither the CPU nor GPU are anywhere near the wrist rest.

i don't see what's so bad. ~50 C is not that hot for a computer....

I am running A12. It seems that there is a rediculous amount of heat transfer to the wrist rest. I infreqently get shocked by the wrist rest so I wonder if heat is being transferred to the wrist rest from the hard drive (or somewhere else) instead of being insulated properly. The alumnimum looks great but it has a relatively high-level of thermal conductivity so both the sides of the wrist rest get hot pretty quickly. Those temps were just web surfing temps so I I do anything more processor intensive the temps go up more quickly.
