    Dell Studio SXPS 1640 - Windows 7 Installation

    Hey

    I own a Dell Studio SXPS16 and would like to install Windows 7.
    My question being how will i install the drivers ???
    Like do i have to download one by one or will windows 7 downloads themselves
    Another point being how to do update my video drivers ??
    Graphics Card - ATI 3670

    I think Windows 7 should be able to take care of most of your drivers at install. If not then, then when you first run Windows Update. Nonetheless, there's bound to be some silly device (like a Ricoh card reader) for which 7 and Windows Update won't have the driver in which case you can download your drivers from Dell:

    Although, in the grand scheme of things, you should generally just download all the appropriate drivers to be on the safe side. Or at least the networking drivers such that you can access Dell website post-install.

    hey,

    I installed Win7 fresh (clean install)

    most of the drivers should be taken care of.

    if you want IDT Audio, then you can install that (I don't like IDT audio cuz of the sound issues I've had with the 1640)

    the only driver I updated was the video card, otherwise, it's running fine. =)
