So im not sure if this is a widespread problem but my xps refuses to boot windows 7 off battery power, it'll go into the "starting windows" screen and just stay there, for hours if left.

My girlfriends 1340 does the exact same thing as well..all my drivers are up to date, this is just extremely frustrating

    I have Windows 7 Home Premium x64

alex5857, when I first received my first, 1340 it did exactly what you are talking about. One thing that I tried and it worked was to power up, hit the
F8 key before the dell logo appears (I believe), look at the menu options that appear, and select "repair windows" follow the screen prompts and you should come to another menue that gives you the option to repair windows so it "starts normally" I think that is what it say's I'm at work and don't have my machine in front of me.
Or, you could restore one of you laptops back to a factory image if you can afford to. Instead of doing a restore You could also, go into the startup menu and start disabling programs one by one to see if something starting is causing the problem. Mike

What did you do to fix yours? which program did you disable? Or did the repair windows option fix it for you?
