so ups just dropped off my 9-cell battery, it came with a 29% charge on it so its currently charging meaning i cant give a complete performance review as of yet.. with that being said..

the battery brand is panasonic and its roughly 1.7lbs of added weight to the laptop, i dont really notice the difference as of yet.

looks wise.. it looks almost like the 9-cell for the m1330, you will see in the pictures how it angles the laptop, some people may not like this but it is not a issue with me as i have a hp laptop with a 12-cell battery so im used to the tilting of the unit.

now as you will see in the pictures one of my rubber feet are shaved, i did this because my laptop suffers from the wobble effect, even after shaving down the foot i still got a tiny bit of wobble, well upon first use of this battery the wobble seems to be completely gone (now i cant speak for people who havent shaved their feet -- yours still may wobble i dont know -- im still waiting for a replacement casecover, if i get one ill post that review too)

the battery lifting the unit does allow more air to get under the laptop itself which is making my temps run lower! hooray! like i said the battery is still charging and im sure it will take a few hours so just enjoy the pictures for now.. oh incase anyone hasnt been following the 1340 thread i paid under $64.00 for this 9-cell shipped. dell.com has it on sale for 79.99 but there is a 25% off coupon, i got it cheaper because i got free shipping as well.. any questions just ask in the thread.

Thank you very much! I've been waiting for someone to post the results of the 9 cell battery. 6+ hours is very good.

It would be nice if Dell offered the 9-Cell as a primary battery option instead of an additional battery...I purchased two different batteries for my 710M when I purchased it several years back and I never used the smaller battery. It still is buried somewhere in my closet.

they do offer it in USA only.. also, after lowering the brightness 1 more notch my battery life has jumped to almost 7hrs! this is amazing. ill run a movie in a little bit to see how it fairs when the processor is used more then 20%

    NICE job man! Well done!

And the trade-off with weight/size... ain't too bad ya?

I mean, personally, I avoided my 12-cell on my HP because the bloody thing was just.... BIG, y'know? Heck, even when I traveled sometimes I would just keep it at home because of it's size- and my traveling was the main reason I bought the thing.

But seems that with this, the size really isn't that bad at all, actually usable on a day-to-day basis........ ?

Oh and btw... if you're getting almost 7 hours on a 9 cell... you should be getting about 4-4.5sh hours on the 6 cell... but you said in that other post you get 2-3...... from a cell to hour standpoint.. that doesn't make sense? Or are these super cells? :p lol..

thanks for the review mate... and sorry to bludgeon you with questions

1.7 lbs more than with the 6 cell or 1.7 lbs more than with no battery?

Thanks for the tip on the 9-cell sale. Incredible a 9 cell DEL OEM battery for 59.95 after discount!! I will give you a rep once I figure out how to do that.
    Thanks again.

regarding the weight, the battery itself its 1.7lbs its not actually too bad i can still easily hold the laptop up with 1 hand without any "flexing"

yes i know in theory the 9-cell should be giving X hours vs what im reporting.. but im just reporting the facts lol. im going to give it a full test over the course of the weekend because i havent been able to drain the battery today i fell asleep.. i do notice this thing drains SLOW SLOW SLOW so maybe it is a "super" cell.. deff packs more of a punch then the 9-cell m1330 battery.

here is a link to the updated gallery with 12-cell/9-cell pictures

    http://img8.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=dsc03056w.jpg

add the item to your cart
add coupon code B0FP12N2JW5L2L during check out
will come to $59.95 + tax + shipping

word of advice i would do this quickly as im still believing this is a pure price mistake but i could be wrong.

Ahh, ok. I just haven't found a sleeve for my 1640 yet, so I'm still using the really thin, sleeve joke that dell sent, lol. I haven't tested out this battery yet though it probably won't perform as well on the 1640.

umm its a 13inch laptop? what exactly are you asking?

my hp in the pictures is a 15.4inch dv6000 series 6904 or 6409 one of the 2..

that sony you linked too is SOOOOOOOOOOO overpriced its ridiculous!

What I am asking is.... how big is the S-XPS 13? In the picture it looks like it's almost as big as the DV6000.... would that be a fair observation?

The 1340 is smaller than your DV2500. There is no way a 13.3" laptop is as big as a 15.4".

When I just tried to configure a Dell XPS 1340 on the Dell's USA Website it still won't allow me to choose the 9-Cell as a primary battery. I get the following:

"System Ships with a 6-Cell Battery. Select a Secondary Battery Below."

I can then select the 9-Cell as a secondary battery only. I am unable to remove the 6-Cell as the primary battery and choose the 9-Cell as the primary battery. I really don't need two batteries.

However, this won't stop me from making a purchase -- but I'd like to be able to not buy a 6-Cell when I know I'll never use it.

If you saw something different on the Dell Website please let me know.

Regardless, thank you again for posting your results of the 9-Cell. It has been very informative.

call dell and explain you want to order with the 9cell only, when i was building one the other day you could select the 9cell vs the 6cell

    ALSO!

for those of you with the wobble issue, switching to the 9-cell removes the wobble because of how the battery angles the bottom of the laptop! i was looking through a glass table at where the laptop now rests once the battery angles it in the air and it barely catches the 2 feet closet to the trackpad hope this helps

Thanks for the response. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something on the website. Several days ago (maybe a week now) I asked a sales rep., using Dell Chat, if it was possible to get the XPS 1340 with the 9-Cell battery only. I was told no. However, as we all know that means nothing since customers often get different answers depending on which customer service rep. they get.

hey all, little update, for all those wondering if the laptop+9cell fits in the dell oem sleeve that comes with it, the laptop with the battery does fit inside it. i still prefer the case logic i have because it offers some little type of protection

managed to drain battery to 0% and when i say 0% i mean 0% ..it read 0% for 10minutes before it decided to shut off, plugged it in and turned it back on.. it read it would take 179mins to do a full charge..way more then when i first plugged it up so expect results in the next couple of days

Can someone with a 9 cell post results when watching a Blu-ray movie? I'm interested to see that if the screen is set on fairly low brightness you can squeeze in two movies for those transatlantic trips...

Mister mooseymoose, now known as jmoose :D , can you do a 6 vs. 9 cell temp comparison, with HWmonitor or some other temp monitor?

Interested as to what the actual benefit is with the extra airflow. Thanks a bunch!

    Hey Jmoose,

I got my xps 1340 for a week now and was already considering buying a 9 cell battery after the first day. Good thing I found your thread!! Could you quote me the total price shipped to France and tell me how to transfer the funds.
    Appreciate your help!!

ps.: tried to pm you but somehow this option is blocked
