Dell Studio XPS 1340 with 9-Cell Battery Pictures - Mini Review...

i was not satisfied with dell canada's response.. much too expensive.. about 2.5 x what the US price would be. outrageous.

so, hopefully jmoose will help me out and get me a 9cell for my xps 13

 

ordered a 9cell last night for another member and it already shipped from dell to me today.. looks like ill be getting it monday so i can send it out

 

So what sort of battery life are you getting on average with the 9-cell? If you could give us a final breakdown it would be great....

 

And that temp report would be sweet, as well.

 

temp report i havent really had time to do, avg usage is around 6.5hrs with med brightness

i tried to download hwmonitor full ver and ended up giving me 4 viruses lol so ive been trying to find a good ver

 

just get it from cpuid.com. Do a direct download. Virus free since 1874...

 

sigh.. got my new system board cover from fedex today and now the laptop wobbles AGAIN.. jesus ! :O

You follow my advice to you from the "Owner's" thread? Did you tighten them completely, one at a time, or did you go in a pattern and tighten them a little at a time?

 

tighten them as much as i could without stripping them.. i went one @ a time

Received my battery today. Going to drain and charge it twice so that I can fully use it during my 9hrs flight on thursday. Besides the design of the battery is pretty nice. Fits perfectly with the laptop.

 

Would anyone know is the Dell Studio XPS 13 9 cell battery the same as the 9 cell that goes on the Studio XPS 16?

I don't know, theres no information about it on the Dell website part from both being 9 cell 85 WHr Li-Ion Batteries and asking Dell is no good.

I'm having a lot of bother with them. I've had two sales idiots undercutting each other on prices but then I saw it cheaper online so ordered online. I ordered the 1640 online but the following day it was cancelled, in the afternoon I was bombarded with calls from that dodgy sales person and now have been offered a different price but it's £100 more than what I ordered it at online???? they won't honour the same price and this all is getting on my nerves. I won't be paying £100 more than it was last week why should I.

I'm now seriously thinking of going for the 1340 and just ordering that online, it's less, it's maybe more portable but lower on graphics and certain other things.

I did say before it's bad for UK dell customers these days and theres an example of the kind of bull.

Looks like a great laptop and I'm very tempted by the price of the 1340, but I do have a few questions.

Does opening the screen still block the vent outlets?

Does the laptop get hot to the touch just using it?

Has anyone seen the 9-cell option on the Uk dell site? So far I have not.

Unfortunately Dells entire UK operation is in india, it was a million times better when it was UK based and in Ireland. Seriously I find myself dealing with such conniving arse holes. I live about 20 miles from Dell UK head office and have made a formal complaint about them messing me about with pricing, cancelling my order I made online then telephoning me with a higher price than what I originally ordered at and not honoring the price I initially ordered at but no doubt it will probably be passed onto india...

The only good thing about Dell over here is aftercare, that point when something goes wrong and a technician has to come and visit. Ok trying to explain the problem and getting anywhere is the hard part but once a technician comes they do get things sorted that I will give them credit for but it's contractor that comes, from another company...

I don't beleave anything has changed about the vent being partitally covered. A lot of reviews I have read mention this laptop gets hot.

I have asked Dell many times about the 9 cell for the 1340 as in the configuration it does say 6 and additional 9 cell in "Tech Specs" of the 1340 but everyone of the sales people tell me it's unavailable.

Like you I like the look of the 1340, it looks good although knowing only a 6 cell is available and after hearing what battary life that actually is it makes me put on hold ordering the 1340.

 

I Very almost bought this laptop but I hovered there over the button after reading all the comments regarding bsod's and hot temps. I'm now trying to find a uk vendor for the Asus F6Ve-B1 or the N81, which is a bit more money
but worth it for a system I'll hopefully be able to have confidence in.

can somebody post some useful pictures and not something somebody shot in the dark with a flash directed at the notebook, thats hilarious....
And also some total weight of the laptop - somebody mentioned 1.7lbs or 0.75 kilos, thats insane - that battery cant possibly weight that much. Thats 1/3 of the weight of the laptop, my 15 inch weighs less with a 9 cell

idk the exact weight of 9 cell bat used on 1340, but a normal weight of 9 cell is 1.3lb.

 

my 6400 inspiron has a 9 cell and it weighs about 2/3 the 1.3lb you're mentioning. Total weight of the laptop is 3kilos with the 9 cell. And its a 15 inch...If a 13 inch weighs 3 kilos with a 9 cell than dell must be joking...

Thanks for the pictures, but l kept getting confused as to what laptop l was looking at. Also the lighting in most of pictures makes it really difficult to make out any detail.

Ok...bought a 9 cell (shipped in 3 days, not in 1-2 weeks). But I cannot get more than 5h on power saving mode. Any idea why?
