    Hello,

Recently, I had bought new computer "Dell Studio XPS 16" with the highest specifications, but I do not know why but my "Counter - Strike v1.6", "Need For Speed SHIFT", "Grand Theft Auto IV" are lagging. Where is the problem?

    Thank You in advance.

Where to begin. First of all, please post your exact system specs and which OS you are running on. Second, which video drivers are you using right now? Also, have you configured those games to run at MAX resolution (1920x1080 for example) and details? If so, that explains why they are lagging. As good as it may be, an SXPS 16 with a ATI 4670 just can't handle the top resolutions and details that modern games deliver. The ATI is a good, but mid range graphics card.

While I understand that GTA4 could lag(since it's one of the power-hungry games out currently), CS shouldn't really lag. I mean, that game runs fine on low end GPUs.

Is it online multiplayer lag? If so, maybe that's the connection and not your computer.

CS1.6 should run at everything FULL on and then some and there should be 0 lag with ultra FPS lol.. seriously. other than that GTAIV is just poorly configured on PCs and N4S shift is a newer title, I suggest turning off AA. Download the lastest ATI drivers also! good luck.

    Christ.....CS runs on ultra high on a Commodore 64 (nearly) :p :p :p
    [IMG]

i play CSS in 1920x1080 and everything on high with 50-60 fps....................so you should really be able to play this game on super high without any problems at all

    try this instead:

    Vista (32.bit)
    -----------------------
    1.
    download modded package:
    http://go.notebookreview.com/?id=52...iverheaven.net/frontpage/modtool/download.php
    2.
    download Ati 9.9 (Vista 32.bit):
    http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?driver=VideoCard/vista32-suite
    3.
start installation of the Ati driver, BUT cancel the installation once the driver is extracted. (the Driver will be extract into C:/Ati/Support)
    4.
run Mobility Modder - browse to the driver in C:ATI/SUPPORT/ -
(- hit modify. Wait until driver is modified)

I have run all three of those games on 1920x1080 with no lag. Try doing a complete reinstall. That usually does the trick.

openGL instead of direct3d for cs. u'll see huge difference

    if not

    clean install
    power settings on max performance
    turn mip maps to 'performance'
    catalyst AI to 'advanced'
    AA to app setting
    AF to app setting
    disable vsync
    disable antivir

Okay, we don't need a cockfight about whether the 3670 is as good as the 4670... obviously its not.

Is the 3670 good for some people? sure.

Is the 4670 good for others? yep.

Are we all happy with our machines? mhmmm.

Is the OP even still posting here? Nope.

    my computer scored 6770 with p8800 2.66 & ati 4670,
on average, 0.1ghz cpu increase adds +100 3d06 mark , if he got 2.93+ processor, his can score 7000 for sure.

For WoW my wife's laptop is set on "high" settings on the slider bar in the video options effects window. x1 multisampling and I lowered the shadows to around 40-50%...somewhere in that area. And it's at native resolution 1920 x 1080. Runs great on her laptop.

Yes you can.. Just not via the BIOS, but there are programs out there that can do it, so long as you keep that program running in the background. Once you close the program the clocks go back to stock.

get the catalyst 8.10, mobility mod and use the amd gpu clock tool to do the overclocking.

i play with nearly same settings in BF2142 as my friend SXPS 4670, (the only difference is thats he have a bit higher fps and 2x more AA :) :)

here how it looks (taken from another website).........5820 in 3dmark06......he he

We have people looking to overclock the 4670 and the 3670 all in one thread... clarify which ones you are referring to. As far as I know, the 4670 can't be OC'd, the 3670 can (though, its not recommended since this card is already an OC'd 3650).

Hey im having the same problem I just received a new SXPS 16 yesterday with 4670. I have one with the 3670 and it performs better than the one with 4670? i was playing Arkham Asylum on 1920 x1080 high with shadows bloom and blur off and it played fine on 3670 but stutters and lags on 4670 any clues as to why?

Why, because the 13 inch doesn't have 1920 x 1080 and you were running it on a lower screen setting. Try turning it down to 1400 or 1200.

its time to start thinking about things that would cause it to run slow:

if you have win7 running, blame that.
    check HDD for read errors
    check memory
check for running tasks that are causing problems
make sure you have latest .net framework installed, CCC requires it if i remember right.

the short of it is there is something wrong that you're doing, that your software is doing, or with the hardware.

I am running Vista 64 bit no HDD errors no memory errors and just did a fresh install of vista and dont use CCC.... hmmm is this a common problem? or could this just be a bad card? i did a benchmark on RE5 and it runs 30- 40 fps then dips to 10 and keeps doing this over and over like clockwork. settings are 1280x 720 all high no motion blur and it does this on medium and low settings as well even on 800 x 600 and in L4d the recommended settings are 600 X 800 everything low and off. does this sound right for a 4670?

Mkelliny, test your ram with several diff programs. the more it seems like "clockwork" the more it sounds like bad ram or memory controller or something. maybe even a bad proc or its getting to hot and underclocking to cool off.
